Getting Around Seattle by Bus

To Downtown (10 mins):

  • Route #2 down Seneca (bus stop one block away) to 3rd Avenue and onward to Seattle Center. From Downtown, you can get buses to everywhere in the metropolitan region.

To University District - University of Washington (30 mins.):

  • Bus #49 along Pine and then Broadway (bus stop 3 blocks away).
  • Weekdays only: Bus #205 (express) runs along Boren Ave. 3 times in the morning going to the UW and 4 times in the late afternoon coming from the UW. (10-15 minutes to the University)

Arriving from Sea-Tac Airport

Metro buses to Downtown Seattle ($1.75/ $2.50)
Gray Line Downtown Airporter to Downtown Seattle hotels ($11.00)
Shuttle Express to 1300 University ($32.00. Reservation required.)

Taxi from airport to 1300 University (approx. $35, but inquire first!)

Arriving by Car

Coming from the North on southbound I-5:

  • Take I-5 south into Downtown and exit at Union St. (Exit #165C), which abruptly puts you onto UNION Street (watch out for cars merging from the right from under the Convention Center).
  • Get over immediately and take the first RIGHT off Union onto 7TH AVENUE
  • Go one block on 7TH AVENUE, and turn RIGHT on PIKE Street.
  • Follow Pike Street up the hill a couple of lights and cross Boren Street.
  • One short block beyond Boren turn RIGHT onto MINOR Avenue
  • Go up Minor Avenue for two blocks and turn LEFT at UNVERSITY Street.
  • Follow University one block, and just after you cross Summit Avenue, 1300 University will be the tawny-colored brick building on your left.

Coming from the South on northbound I-5

  • Approaching Downtown on northbound I-5, after passing the exit for I-90, start looking for the "Madison St." exit on the right
  • Take the MADISON Street EXIT ramp to the first stop light, which is Madison Street.
  • Turn RIGHT on MADISON Street and go up the hill four blocks to Boren Avenue
  • Turn LEFT on BOREN Avenue and go 3 blocks to the 2nd light, which is University Street.
  • Turn RIGHT on UNIVERSITY Street and go two blocks, and just after you cross Summit Avenue, 1300 University will be the tawny-colored brick building on your left.

Coming the East on I-90

  • On approaching I-5, follow the sign to "VANCOUVER, BC" (e.g., get on northbound I-5).
  • Immediately start looking for the "Madison St." exit on the right.
  • Follow the directions above for "Coming from the South on northbound I-5," from the second bullet on.

NOTE: Mapquest's driving directions may be different and will work, but these directions are more direct.
