ORPHANED GRANDPARENTS
ASSOCIATION
Resource Center

An organization established to offer support to grandparents raising grandchildren and to grandparents and other extended family members who have limited or no access to their grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

PURPOSE
To raise grandparent consciousness & promote the importance of grandparenting as a role and function that gives important meaning and empowerment to later life.

SUPPORT
To share problems and attempt to find solutions to common problems.
To provide support and comfort for each other in coping with the stress of strained family situations and with the pain and grief of separation from grandchildren.
To provide information about services and resources in the community, such as family life education, mediation, professional legal services, and "Parenting After Separation" program, etc.

EDUCATION & PREVENTION
To acquaint the public with the existence of our situation.
To alert families to how and why these situations develop: (e.g. parental separation/divorce, death of adult child, unresolved family conflict,out of wedlock births, step-parent adoption, etc.) so that they may become aware of how these issues may be circumvented.
To invite speakers to our meetings from time to time to educate US on possible solutions, warning signals, and prevention.
To facilitate informational courses/seminars, such as "Becoming a Better Grandparent" on Strengthening the Family, and Building Intergenerational Relationships.

LEGISLATION
To encourage & support legislation that will safeguard grandchildren's rights to visit and have access with their grandparents.

Orphaned Grandparents Association's
Support group meetings for interested grandparents/other extended family members who are experiencing limited/no access to their grandchildren, nieces/nephews have been discontinued at this time.


G.A.P.(Grandparents as Parents)support group meetings have been discontinued at this time.

Orphaned Grandparents Association
is a non-profit organization, financial support is given through donations.
