Their Powers and My Thoughts on Them

Okay, as we know some of the Celestial Warriors have outstanding powers, while others make you stop and think, what was the point of them. So I've been thinking, and this can be a scary thing, that maybe since some of them weren't as old as Nakago or Chichiri, perhaps all of their powers hadn't evolved yet. So in this section I will explain what their powers were in the series/manga and anything else they used to fight, heal or anything interesting that was unique, and I'm also going to share some of my ideas of what their powers may have become if they had lived to explore them. So enough rambling let's get to the powers.

They are listed in constellation groups, starting with Suzaku, Seiryuu, Genbu and  Byakko. (only Suzaku is finished, but what I have done of Seiryuu is up. no Genbu or Byakko is up yet)

Tamahome creates a red energy ball

Constellation: Tamahome

Celestial Powers: Excellent Martial artist and chi blasts.

From the get go Tamahome excelled in martial arts, really any fighting technique. He proves this to us again and again.  He's unstoppable when it comes to fighting (as long as it's not another kick butt fighting celestial Warrior). Too bad for him though is that when the series goes on, his lets kick butt method just doesn't seem to work as well.

Lucky, or not so lucky for him, is that the Seiryuu warriors keep pressing all his buttons and making him so angry that he taps into his life force. And behold, Tamahome is shooting out life energy blasts just like Nakago. In fact one time after Nakago made him so mad, Tamahome blasted him with his chi and managed to burn Nakago (if just a bit). And that was when Tamahome didn't even know what he was doing.

Tamahome also uses another weapon, although only for a short time. Tmahome uses nunchuck things (that's not quite the right name, so maybe I'll hunt it down) he's quite good with it and beats up some people with it. For the most part though he doesn't use weapons, although clearly he could if he wanted to.

Constellation: Tasuki

Celestial Powers: Tasuki's symbol means wing (some translations say crater) and it suits him because despite Common belief Tasuki's power is super fast speed.

Tasuki with is somking Tessen   After using his speed to kidnap Miaka he prepares his illusion attack

To those who don't believe me an example of this is when Tasuki kidnaps Miaka from right in front of Hotohori at the bandit's hideout. Nobody saw him coming or where Miaka went until he talked. He uses his speed again when he grabs Miaka out of the way of Tamahome's nunchuck things.

Tasuki also has his Tessen (or metal fan) that shoots out fire. Anyone can use the fan, but Tasuki can channel his life force into it making it more lethal, and a lot more cool.

Tasuki's last weapon we see him use is the magic cards he got from a travelling guy. He only uses them when we first see him (Miaka destroys the rest with food names) but that doesn't make them less neat. Anyone can use those cards, and the only great thing about them is that they were sort of Genrou's name sake (Phantom Wolf)

My overall thought on Tasuki is that although his ability was speed, he was an excellent fighter. I guess he had to be since he was a bandit, but when Tamahome and Tasuki get into a fight Nakago himself said he could not determine the winner. This is saying a lot since it is Tamahome who was supposed to be the great Suzaku fighter and all. In defence Tamahome was drugged, so maybe he couldn't tap into his Suzaku powers, but it could also be that Tasuki's speed makes up for any diffeciency he may have as a fighter. Oh well you decide.

Nuriko displaying the gauntlets that add to his strength

Constellation: Nuriko

Celestial Power: Super strong. (Does a great taste in fashion count?? no? well what about they way she and Miaka gab, bicker and fight?? no again? shoot...oh well.)

When we first meet Nuriko she shows up on the screen asking if she could help remove all the rubble that Miaka and Tamahome are buried beneath. He then throws it all away as if it were nothing. A very shocked Hotohori sees this and they soon find out she is a Suzaku warrior.

He uses her strength to help break walls and protect the priestess, but that seems to be his only power. He's not one of the best fighters, and is usually there to give support.

The biggest moment for Nuriko is when they are getting the first Shinzaho and he moves the heavy boulder form the entrance. This proved not only physical strength but also a strength of determination, mind, and soul. There is more to this part but to elaborate would be to introduce a huge spoiler.

Constellation: Mitsukake

Celestial Power: He's the doctor of the bunch who uses his 'great healing power'.

Using his healing power to cure a beast. With his head in the backgroun showing concentration

Mitsukake is a super great doctor, and he can also use his powers to completely heal people. His power isn't all that great since he can only heal one person a day. Got that, one person a day. Now that we've got that settled he can still help people since he's a doctor.

His powers sort of bug me, because it seems the rules change. He can only heal one person a day, but when Shouka is evil, he heals her spirit and then cures Miaka of the plague. At least he sticks to the rule when Tasuki is beaten to a bloody pulp, he could only heal Miaka and had to wait to heal Tasuki, it's a good thing he kept putting it off or else he wouldn't have been able to heal Tamahome after he was skewered.

When Suzaku's powers' are sealed away, he still goes around healing people, and when a little baby Shouka is sick he uses his special medicine Taiitskun gave him to save her. Then he asks Shouka (the dead one who could bring people back to life) to give him strength. He then used all his life force to bring everyone around him back to life and heal them. (there was a lot of people there) So even though his powers were limited they were still helpful. Oh sorry for rambling and saying some spoilers.

Chiriko uses his smarts and the leaf to break a spell

Constellation: Chiriko

Celestial Power: Super smart, is great at logic, and facts. Although he was still young so perhaps most of his powers had yet to develop. (look at Suboshi's, his powers developed as the series went on, so did Tamahome's)

Chiriko can tell just by looking at the stars that the Suzaku Seven are in trouble. So he quickly goes to their rescue. When he arrives "Chiriko is already there trying to kill him. So he uses a leaf whistle to interrupt the sound waves. Does this mean his weapon his also blowing chi (life force) through an instrument. Most likely not. Since he was super smart, he knew that the frequency played by the leaf would disrupts "chirko's" flute playing and save the other seishi (warriors)

Chiriko doesn't do a lot for rest of the series, but you have to wonder if he had had three more years like most everyone else did to develp his powers what would they be? I have a couple theories, perhaps he would be able to sense people thoughts and feelings. That way he would know all the facts in books and also in people's minds. Well, it's an idea. I don't think he would become telekinetic, although that is usually linked with intellegince. because he should have been able to move somethings already. So I'm sticking with my original idea. I believe that if Chiriko had had the time he would have been able to develop his powers and read people's thoughts.

Why do I think that? Because Knowledge is a great gift, but it just seems to be seriously lacking when put up against... oh lets just say...everybody else's powers. Even Mitsukake's powers seem dangerous and all powerful next to Chiriko's. That's why I believe he had yet to fully develop his powers...what they would have been I can only guess, but I think mine is a fair one.

Constellation: Hotohori

Celestial Power: Has a natural instinctive ability of swordsmanship just like Tamahome does for martial arts. (Thanks Jem for confirming my belief in the sword power)

Although I still feel that swordsmanship may have been more trained than celestially given. I could also say his narcissim (don't get me wrong I love Hotohori, I just can't figure out what his powers are, so if you know tell me) He also prays to Suzaku a lot for the protection of the others and to fortify his will... Since Hotohori didn't really get to do too much in the series I decided to go through all the instances he kicked but in the series. I also believe that his powers would have grown if he had a chance to use them more. As it is, you can still see some growth of his powers.

Hotohori strikes a pose with his sword

Hotohori is the emperor of Konan and spent his whole life with the best trainers, so although he uses the sword mostly, I'm positive he would excel at everything else. (a sword to me is more sophisticated and suits royalty better anyway) He helps save/protect Miaka many times using his sword skills to fight off weapons, people or anything else wanting a piece of her. We hardly ever see Hotohori without his sword.

When Tamahome momentarily goes to the "dark side' Hotohori gets really mad. This is one of the only times we see his character and him glow red with the power of Suzaku. First he saves Miaka from drowning, he himself almost drowns until he pushes back all the water around them and creates a protective sphere and brings both he and Miaka to safety. This is the first time we see Hotohori do anything cool without his sword. So could his power be creating barriers of protection from elements and weapons alike ( I have no idea, I'm just trying to figure out what his powers really are.)

When he sword fights with Tamahome, his life force(chi) is completely focused, and he is focusing it on his fighting and using his sword, but does that mean that swordsmanship is his power? All I know is he did some great moves and completely held his own against the great fighting machine Tamahome. (not intending to be mean to Tamahome, just trying to prove that Hotohori was proving he could fight superbly)

He uses his sword in a showdown against Nakago, and also prays to Suzaku to protect people and to fortify his will, and such, but it still doesn't help me decide what his true power is....if you have any suggestions, ideas or things I could add tell me! I'd love the help.

Without his mask focusing his energy

Constellation: Chichiri

Celestial Power: He can use his powers to transform into different people, he can also disappear and reappear (by himself or in groups) He is also able to cast protective barriers around people and blast things with chi (not really like Tamahome or Nakago, but it's still cool) Some of these tricks were taught to him by Taiitskun, but all require his life force.

He has to be the most powerful Suzaku Warrior (although he is the eldest, so he has more experience), he can detect the presence of evil or good before anyone else can. He does this a lot when we first meet him, and he keeps helping Miaka and Tamahome. Also when we first meet him we see him disappear into his hat. (Miaka tries to do this later, it's sorta funny, at least to me) Whenever he needs to get somewhere in a hurry or help his friends leave, or get to a place, he can use his cloak/hat/ anything handy to make a warp tunnel thing and get them from point a to point b with no problem.

Another great thing about Chichiri is that he can transform/morph into other characters. (including a short chibi version of himself) When Hotohori is depressed Chichiri goes back and tells him to go and that he'll take his place. He then changes himself into a dead ringer for Hotohori (even if Hotohori himself does not think so) He uses his morphing powers once again to trick Miaka, and everyone else around into thinking he is Nakago, before getting caught and turning into a chibi version of the general and running away. This skill might not be useful in fighting, but is invaliable elsewhere.

He can protect himself and others by freezing people so they can't move, he can also put up defensive shields, and create types of energy blasts of his own. For all the cool things he does it's difficult to go into great detail of eveything. Let's just say if you think it he could probably do it. I'll probably add more to him later, but for right now I'm much to lazy.
