The Girl of Legend


Miaka dreams of food

 We open up with a green background and floating food, (just a note Miaka the main character is obsessed with food) Miaka is dreaming when voices interrupt her, they are telling her that she needs to study to pass her exams. She wakes up to find that she just whacked the teacher with her desk. She is then sent out into the hallway to hold the desk above her head.
After school Miaka, Yui and 2 other friends talk about upcoming entrance exams they have to take to get into high school.  Miaka says she is going to Jonan, a school known for its superior intelligence.  Her friends ask her if she's sure, because Miaka is not really smart enough for that school. Yui, who is her best friend also wants to go to Jonan and has a good chance, because she's always at the top of the class. After leaving the other two friends, Yui has to return a book to the National Library and Miaka, who has never been before, goes with her. Once Miaka is told the National Library is national they go inside.

The red bird Suzaku appears before her

 Yui heads in to return her books, saying that she'll only be a moment. Miaka, constantly hungry, sees a vending machine. She goes to put money in the slot but it slips and rolls away. As she retrieves the money a glowing red bird, (aka Suzaku) appears to her. It flies away and Miaka follows it up the stairs and into the restricted reference room.  Yui finds her and Miaka tells her about the glowing bird.
A book then falls from the shelf distracting them. Yui picks it up, the title reads Universe Of the Four Gods. Since it is written in Chinese and Miaka is not fluent in that language, Yui reads it. After finishing the warning paragraph (which is in my legend section) the book glows red when Suzaku appears again and then they are both sucked into the pages of the book.

Yui hits Miaka to make sure it's not a dream

 When they come to, they are lying beside each other on hard dry ground. Yui hurts Miaka to see if this is a dream, and Miaka hits Yui back. Satisfied that this is real they get worried. Miaka is upset because she doesn't see any fast good restaurants and such. While Miaka is wondering about Food Yui is grabbed by a gang of slave traders. Miaka at first thinks they are a troupe of dancing acrobats. After being told they are going to sell Yui and her as slaves for money Miaka head butts the bad guys to free Yui. Unfortunately they are soon both in trouble once again.
Now enter the mysterious young man with a braid and a glowing red symbol on his forehead. He proceeds to efficiently beat up all the baddies. He then goes up to the girls, and asks them if they have payment for him helping them. Miaka digs through her stuff to see if she has any money on her, while Yui yells at the guy for wanting payment.

 The stranger with blue hair and purple eyes tells them that money makes the world go round. And that they shouldn't be wandering around with out any. After seeing that they don't have money he walks away and leaves because he doesn't like poor people. At that moment Yui starts to glow red and disappears back into the real world. Miaka did not see that happen because she was still searching her school uniform for money and her back was turned.
When Yui finds herself back in the library she wonders if it was just a dream. She sees the book on the floor and picks it up. She starts reading the book and is startled to read exactly what had just happened to her and Miaka. As she continues reading more words appear describing what Miaka is doing at that very moment inside the book..

Miaka spots the young man

 Miaka who was busy searching for money didn't see Yui vanish back into the real world, so she assumes that the handsome young man who helped them must have taken her. She hitches the ride on the back of a hay wagon to the capital city. When she sees the buildings and people Miaka thinks it looks like a painting or a film set. Looking over the city she spots the man who saved her earlier. She thanks the driver of the wagon (who didn't even know she was on it) and heads towards him.
She gets distracted in the crowds and loses track of him. She smells food and she is drawn towards it (have I mentioned our heroine can't do anything if she smells food?) She goes to buy the food with Japanese money (Yen) but the vendor says this isn't real money. Miaka grabs the food and runs.

 As she continues her search for the man some other guy approaches her. He tells her she is in Konan Empire and that since they are both alone they should walk around together. Miaka then wonders if she has become the girl of men's dreams (while she does this the guy almost leaves). She leaves with the guy because he said he knew the guy with the glowing Ogre symbol on his forehead.
In a restaurant/bar men are gossiping about this strange girl in weird clothes who pays with strange money who is looking for a man with an Ogre symbol (yup that's Miaka in a nutshell). The young man is sitting at a near by table and asks the gossipers if she was with a friend or by herself. Knowing that she is buy herself he heads out o the restaurant (after giving his card to the gossipers, The man's a jack of all trades)

Miaka uses some wrestling moves on her attackers

 Miaka has been led into an abandoned alley by the guy and as she's asking where they guy with the ogre symbol is a bunch of other guys come out. They guys decided they want to have some fun with her, but Miaka is not a push over. She whips off her jacket and shows them her vaccination marks and goes into some wrestling/sailor moon type speech. She then uses all these wrestling moves she saw on tv and it actually works. All the guys have fallen to the ground, and Miaka is quite pleased and about to leave when they all recover. Now they are upset and they pin her to the ground.
As they do this one of the guys are hit with a stone and then another. They are being thrown by the young man with a braid who is tossing a stone up and down standing on a roof. He jumps down and his ogre symbol glows as he once again kicks some butt. The bad guys are now either laying unconscious or have run off.

Back in the real world Yui reads about what almost happened to her friend and how this handsome young man has saved her once again.

( I don't know if he introduces himself in this episode or the next one, but The mysterious young handsome man with a braid and glowing red symbol of an ogre on his forehead is Tamahome.)
