What Are The Duties Of A Camera Operator

Everything pertaining to shooting a film or TV production.  A camera operator must be experienced with all facets of photography:  knowledge of lighting, focal length/depth of field, framing, setting up, live feeds, on-location, etc. Without this knowledge, a camera operator cannot successfully produce a viable product.

I possess this knowledge.  I graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A.in cinematography and film production, A.A. from Jamestown Community College in liberal arts/photojournalism, a vocational certificate in photography from the United States Air Force, received a camera operator certificate via Pacifica Channel 8-complete competency operating all types of TV cameras and equipment, certified PADI specialty in underwater photography, TDI Nitrox videographer and worked as an ENG camera operator for TV stations in the San Francisco Bay Area.  I have been working as a photographer my entire life.  I know I will always work as a photographer/camera operator.  I own a Panasonic DVX-100A and my Cinema Products CP-16 R crystal sync film camera with an entire film production support system.

So, why hire me?

Please click on my scuba diving portrait above to learn more about me.  I am confident you will be calling me to work for you as your camera operator.  I am a member of IATSE Local 600:  The International Camera Guild.  Despite the fact I am a union member, the Camera Guild states I am allowed to work non-union, if your budget cannot pay me union scale providing your production company sends hiring documentation and a contract agreement to the Camera Guild.  I am flexible, patient, understanding and willing to work out all the production details needed to complete the product from pre-production to post.

FYI:  I will have URL links to my videos I have shot very soon.  Most of my camera work is hand held.  I am known for my steadiness while I am operating a camera for hours.  It doesn't matter what the subject matter I am shooting-just know I can shoot your production competently.  No need to hold my hand, babysit and tell me how to shoot.  Just give me the shot list and the product will be done right the first time.  I will be the first person to show up on set before call-time and I will be the last person leaving the set-insuring every detail is secured.

My experience as a photographer/camera operator allows me to shoot aerials, underwater and/or on land.  I ignore the weather conditions because I will work in rain, snow or hot weather on-call.  I have video footage swimming with sharks <lol>, too.

BTW:  I have no restrictions, no conflicts, and I can travel anywhere, anytime.  I have a current passport and international driver's license.  Please click on the camera picture above to send E-mail to request viewing my raw footage on my demo reel at your production office.  So, please surf my URLs and have fun getting to know the person behind the camera lens.
