CWT was incorporated in Singapore on 25 June 1970 under the name of Container Warehousing & Transportation Pte Ltd. On 20 January 1990, the Company changed its name to CWT Distribution Pte Ltd to reflect the Company's activities in the physical distribution and cargo logistics industry.
The Company was formed to build up Singapore's container trucking capabilities, establish container depot operations and prepare for land-based container operations that would be needed with the onset of container terminal operations by PSA. The first four shareholders were PSA, DBS Bank, Intraco and NOL. CWT was one of the earliest container depot operators and trucking companies in Singapore and through the years has contributed to the development of local expertise and infrastructure in container handling.
The Group offers customers a total service in distribution. It has five main lines of business, namely warehousing operations, transportation services, container depot operations, engineering services, and port and container freight station services. In 2000, it launched an e-supply chain management system, CWT iSCM Online.

1HFY01 profit fell 20% in spite of an 18% increase in turnover CWT Distribution Ltd weaker demand for its services as well as economy downturn, which resulted in margin squeeze, hurt its profit.CWT Distribution Ltd it expect a better 2H.
