Project: Brief Description

        Prince Abdullah Military City is a 3 Km by 2 Km military facility project. Our company's scope of work, being the main contractor, comprises, Electrical and communication system, water, sewer and irrigation systems, road systems, landscaping, and buildings including all the services required of each buildings.

Position: Technical Coordinator
        As a technical coordinator, I am in charge of various functions as required by the Technical Manager. Those functions are precast coordination, shop drawings coordination, doors and window coordination and structural drawing coordination.
        As a precast coordinator my main function is to ensure that services from all descipline are implemented in the precast shop drawings. This work requires knowledge on the drawings of all disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural and Structural). Furthermore, my work also requires to schedule the submittal and approval of the shopdrawings in order to be coordinated with the casting schedule and project erection. In precast coordination, my knowledge in AutoCad, is an advantage for I save time on small corrections by making it by myself. Being a Civil Engineer, I can adopt disciplines' services to the actual structural qualities of the precast thus making our proposed services easier to be implemented. My knowledge in Primavera and MSProject, help in the scheduling of the precast submittal. Since I could understand the over all project, planning I could easily adopt and make a detailed schedule for precast. My schedule is so detailed that makes monitoring easy even there are many buildings required to be finished in a short time.
        As a shop drawing coordinator, my function is similar in coordinating precast except I am dealing with personel within the company. My duty is to review shop drawings before submittal. This review first of all is to ensure that the engineer who make the drawing complies with the requirement of the client, with the specification, and the contract. Any descripancy will be reported to the engineer concerned for their action. The review also meant to ensure that conflict on location, sizes, and installation procedure between each disciplines is minimized. My techniques in review is through the use of autocad. By layering each disciplines drawing I can ensure their coordination. The above review gives me an advantage on the coordination of precast. I am also responsible on the flow of the submittal. Ensuring the earliest approval of the drawing by making follow-ups and reminder if required.
        Doors and Window coordination is much specialized work. In the start I study not only contract specifications but also manufacturer specification and standards. My knowledge in percast and shop drawings is an advantage for it will be easy for me to coordinate them. My main function is to revise door amd window schedule as per new requirements on the drawings. To prepare basic drawings of doors and windows in order for the subcontractor to their shop drawings. As the above it is also my responsibility to ensure the earliest approval of the drawings.
        Structural coordination is more on counter checking work within the drawings of the building. Since drawings are detailed and broad it required someone who can visualize the drawing to identify and illiminate unnecessary mistakes in the drawing. Additional work is to check the bar bending schedule before they will be given to site for production. Since time is very limited on this checking, I made my own program on MSExcel to give a fast and accurate checking on the schedule. Thus I did not spend much time on this item and other works are also have been given attention.


Position: HVAC In-charge
This is one of the most challenging work that I have done. Considering that I am a Civil Engineer and the work is mostly for a Mechanical Engineer, I manage to learn the process of the designing of HVAC systems. It is good that I have a basic knowledge on this on my college years, a tutorial from a Mechanical Engineer, and a willingness to learn makes me a good designer of HVAC. As an HVAC in-charge, my main function is to redesign the HVAC system. Compute heating and cooling requirement of individual rooms, design and selected the suitable equipment and system for each type of buildings. Supervise the implementation of this services in order to make a working and acceptable shop drawing. My duty is to design the HVAC requirement on the complete building. Getting the required cooling and heating and selecting the appropriate equipment for it. Should required equipment requires duct systems, it is also my work to design the required duct sizes and configure it to actual space and configuration of the room and the building. I am also required to ensure the equal distribution but not forgeting to ensure its economical value. I also design the required ventilation of the building and making selection of the required equipment. All of my design is based on current version of ASHREA, SMACNA, ARI and other related standards.


Position: Site Coordinator
Being assigned on site gives me a taste of actual experince of the site works. I was assigned to coordinate the subcontractors work both in architectural and mechanical works. In architectural, I supervises the subcontractors on paintings, tiling and doors and window installation. In mechanical, I supervises the subcontractors in HVAC system installation. Again knowledge in drawings since I am part on its development, qualify me in the on the implementation of Architectural works. I have to ensure that subcontractors will follow the approved drawings and correct method of installation. It is also my duty to ensure that all the required materials will be requested and to arrive on or before it will be needed. It is also my duty to report accomplishments and activities on the area of jurisdiction. I am also required to solve minor site problems, and report problems to the higher management if required. Similarly, in Mechanical installation, I was assigned to supervise HVAC equipment and systems. Since I am also the designer, I can easily make proposal for site changes as it arises. Unlike if it is a separate personnel, it will be easier for me to comprehend the actual need of the site. At the end of the project, I am also the one who make the procedure for the Testing and commissioning of HVAC system. I also do the request for the required apparatus for it and supervise. Its implementation untill the final acceptance of the project. I also prepared the Operation and Maintenance Manual for HVAC equipments.

Please note that most of the above assignments occur at the same time or active at the same time, thus good scheduling of my time is very important.

        Masinloc Coal Fired Power Plant is a National Power Corp. project subcontracted by EEI Corporation. Works include the civil and electro-mechanical works. These are earth works, from foundation untill the the whole structures of power plant buildings, steel structure buildings, and to mechanical pipings.

        Position: Quality Control (site inspector)
As QC site inspector, my main responsibility is to inspect the installation of rebars, forms and other services, and insure it follow the approved drawings and specification. Minor descripancy is solved on site by informing the engineer in-charge to do necessary rectification. Problems due to technical problems are coordinated with the engineering department and given immediate action. Problems which are brought to the attention of the concerned engineer but not given action, appropriate report is given for higher management action. I am also required to be present on the concrete casting and to ensure quality in casting. Before casting, it is my duty to ensure all the necessary equipment are available and all forms are clean ready for casting. It is also my duty to report all activities and make all the standard QC reports such as inspections, non-conformance and the like. I am also required to initiate inspection by requesting for it and be present during inspections. My main aim, though not required is to illiminate any comments which will delay the project. It is accomplished through a detailed inspection and understanding of drawing and specification. This duty requires knowledge of reinforcement type, size and installation. It also requires knowledge basic quality control such as forms requirements, splicing and tolerances.
       
Position: Quality Control (Laboratory)
As QC Engineer (laboratory), my main function is to do all laboratory and site testings for soil, aggregates, cement and concrete, such as sieve analysis, field density test, compression test. For field density testing, we use two methods, one is manually and the latest method through radiation. Knowledge on specification, ASTM and ACI is required on the above said functions.
       
Position: Quality Control (Batching Plant Operations)
As a QC Engineer (batching plant), it is my duty ensure that all concrete going out from the batching plant are of good characterestics. This is done first by controlling the required water during the mixing. Before the truck leave the plant, slump test is done to ensure its correct mixture. Before any start of batching aggregates are continuesly check on its water content, since it affect much on the batched concrete. Water temperature is constantly check, at ensure correct temperature specially during summer seasons. Ice are normally used to cool the water and this requirements are required to be supervised. As above, standards and specification is required to be thouroughly understand.
       
Position: Quality Control (Steel Structural)
As a QC Engineer (Structural), my duty to ensure that all structural elements are as per shop drawings and free from defects before erection. This is done by detailed inspection of each arriving structural element. Each element are inspected of its physical characterestics such as; length, width, thickness, connections and any visuall defect such as warfing and rusting and poor welding. Any defects is reported in order for an immediate rectification prior to erection. Before and during installation my presence is needed to ensure correct method of installation. Each elements orientation is individually check prior to final coonections. After the connection, randomly bolt tightness is checked. Alignment is check with the help of surveyors to ensure steel structure are aligned and straight. Knowledge in tolerances on steel structures is required in order to have good judgement on the reporting and inspections of the steel structures.
        Just as normal work of the QC Engineer, I am required to submit regular reports, such as Inspection Reports, Non-conformance Reports, Weekly Inspection Reports, Monthly Inspection Reports.

Project: Brief Description

        First Cavite Industrial Estate, is industrial land development project. It consist of earth works, waterline system, drainage system, road works. Project consist of three phases. Each phases have semi independent, water and drainage systems. Water systems includes deepwells, over head water tanks and underground water tanks.

        Position: Site Engineer (Technical Staff)

As Site Engineer - (technical Staff) my duties are: preparation of bidding materials, updating project schedules, site grading calculations, and preparation of reports and monitoring. Initially, we prepare bidding materials, by surveying current cost of materials and updating quantities of works based on latest drawing. Relevant specifications is comfiled and combined with the updated quantities to form the bidding materials. Surveyed prices are also incorporated to the quantities to have base on the selection of the possible contractors. Updating of project schedules and computation of delay and floats are required to ensure projects schedules are followed. Schedules helps to forecast required changes and actions to an early or on time completion of the project. Prior to start of any site grading, it is our work to compute the design quantities of cut and fill volumes. During and after grading weekly calculation and reports of grading accomplishment are done and monitoring is updated. Any over cut and under cuts are reported for the contractor's immediate action. Preparation of reports are done in regular basis, daily, weekly and monthly. Progress reports are also maintained and comfiled in same regular periods.

        Position: Site Engineer (Road Works)
As Site Engineer - (Road works) my work start in the roads's grade level. It is ensured that all elevation on shop drawings, grade are well compacted. For areas below the required level, suitable materials are backfilled. Prior to back filling, suitable materials are tested to ensure good quality of backfilling materials. Testing of Subbase and base course materials are done prior to dumping and compaction. Regular sampling and testing as per specifications are also done to insure that the materials used is similar to the approved materials. Finished subbase and base, tested for compaction alignment and level prior to start of forms for the pavements. Forms are checked to ensure the rigidity of their supports, elevation and alignment. Forms not adhering with the specification and drawing are reported for subcontractors immediate action. Prior to pavement casting, it is my duty ensure all the required equipments and materials are available to ensure continuous casting and to avoid cold joints. Access and lighting are also check. Standard casting procedures are implemented and violation are addressed and given appropriate actions. Represent also the owner in the testings of the materials, such as soil, aggregates, and concrete.

        Position: Site Engineer (Water System)
As Site Engineer - (Water System) my scope of works here, are to ensure correct level of excavation, pipe laying, backfilling, testing. Ensuring correct excavation is the first priority. Alignment and levels are checked. Type of soil in each segment are also noted and graph to ensure correct backfilling materials and methods are implemented. Each pipe layed are monitored to ensure standard procedures are followed and errors are minimized. Prior to backfilling, initial pressure testing is done for leakage. Type and methods of backfilling are identified and monitored. Final testing and disinfection are also supervised. Deepwell drilling are also part of my work, I monitor the progress of complete well drilling. Well loction is graded to ensure suitability to the drilling works. Then well location are stablished and marked. Drilling casing and testing are all monitored and reported. Construction of deepwell houses, pumping station, overhead tanks, and undeground reservior are also part of the my supervision and monitoring. Electro-mechanical equipment installation is also supervised to ensure approved drawings are followed.

        Position: Site Engineer (Drainage Systems)
As Site Engineer - (Drainage System) Works are similar to waterlines, works start with the excavation, not only levels and alignment were check but also type of excavated soil. graph soil type and classification not only help on the determination of backfill materials but also on payament on excavation. This is also used in making of the as-built drawings. Laid pipes are inspected on its sizes, jointing, alignment and elevation. After all are approved, materials for backfill are tested and layer by layer tested for compaction. Drainage system also include, concrete structures such as canal, buffled outflows, and retaining structures. All the construction and testing required are all supervised, monitored and reported.
