Eyre Peninsula Fauna Rescue

Based in Port Lincoln, South Australia

Providing advice and support for Native Animal Carers anywhere on the Eyre Peninsula and elsewhere.

Welcome to the Eyre Peninsula Fauna Rescue Web Page.

This site was set up for people who care for orphaned kangaroo joeys and orphaned wombat joeys and indeed any other injured or orphaned native fauna.

One of the main aims of the group is to provide support for carers of orphaned and injured Australian Native Fauna, particularly on the West Coast and the Eyre Peninsula region of South Australia and to enable the various carers in that area to keep in touch with like minded people, to share experiences and information..

Many people take on the role of caring for these orphans. Most commonly they come across them in the pouch of their dead mother, who has usually been involved in an accident with a motor vehicle. Most people start out without any idea what to do, what to feed the joey and where to look for help. This web site is an attempt to bridge that gap, to help people and give them the support and confidence to be able to successfully raise their charge. We also try and find carers for those orphans that the finder can not care for.

We don't know all the answers. But we can probably tell you where to find it.

The most common orphaned animals on the Eyre Peninsula are the Western Grey Kangaroo and Hairy Nosed Wombat. There are small populations of Euro on the Peninsula which occasionaly end up orphaned, and in the Northern areas of the Peninsula, Red Kangaroos sometimes move far enough South to end up as casualties as well.

We have members with over 30 years experience with raising orphaned joeys. Western Grey and Red Kangaroo, Euros (called Wallaroos in other parts) and the Hairy Nosed Wombat.

If you need assistance with the raising of an orphaned or injured Australian Native Animal or bird we hope this site is of some assistance to you.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need help.
