Raising Seeing Eye Pups

Seeing Eye Puppy Wade

Brian Foskey, a retired, NJ Police Detective, has been raising pups for The Seeing Eye, of Morristown, NJ, for several years now.  He is currently working with his sixth pup, Wade, a black labrador pup that was born on 9/27/04.

Brian's last pup, Sirius, was a special pup.  A german shepherd, Sirius was named for the Port Authority of NY/NJ Police K-9, that was killed in the collapse of the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001.

Brian got Sirius when he was just a few weeks old.  He lived with the Foskey family until he was 18 months old, when he was returned to The Seeing Eye for formal training and was then matched and placed with a blind person.  Today, Sirius, an adult Guide Dog, is living and working in New Mexico.

As part of his puppy training, Wade and Brian will be involved with The Eyes of Hope, the Essex County Chapter of the 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Project.  This is the same Puppy Club that Brian and Sirius worked with.

View Sirius' growth as he changed from a frisky young pup to an adult Guide Dog.  See him at home, out and about in the community, attending classes with other Seeing Eye pups and going on field trips with his classmates.
