YJ Bash Report
2001-01-20:
Greetings
everyone from the Tusken Sniper! We had an awesome December here
in the Vegas valley. My fellow JCM Avery Poliak and myself had
a very successful month. We ran quite a few tournaments including
our year-end bash on Dec. 27 where we ran back to back tournaments.
Avery ran the first tournament at noon. 16 players showed up from
Las Vegas and Southern California. We played six games and had
some very close and exciting games. I won my last game by 1 card
thanks to a last minute substitution of battle cards. Local Las
Vegas player Andrew Wilder won his first YJ tournament going undefeated
against
some of the best competition we had had since regionals. I later
ran the 5pm tourney and had 21 people show up. This tournament
was won by Californian Rod Bigner ( see his winning dark side
deck on what's new section of Decipher.com!). He also went undefeated
in all six of his games. Another interesting note, Andrew Wilder
who won thee first tournament lost his third
game by 41 cards! He forfieted the first planet and then over-deployed
on the hidden cards phase of his second turn! Talk about tough
luck!
We also made our strikes for JK. Avery hit our main clubhouse
for YJ, Cheese Boy Comics and another store in the NE side of
the valley. I hit The local store in the Mall and I tried to hit
a store in the NW corner on the valley but it had gone out of
business.
Besides tournaments for YJ and RST strikes we did hold demos at
cheese Boy Comics, Awesome Hobbies and other various locations
in Las vegas (not all of them were schedualed or in card stores
which was refreshing. I acctualy gave a impromptu demo for some
people in a California Wal-Mart. I was wearing my Rebel Strike
Team shirt in the Wal-Mart and was flaged down by some people
who wanted to know where I got the shirt! I told them of Jedi
Knights and Young Jedi and explained in as much detail as I could
about how to play YJ (if I only had a demo deck in my back pocket
at the time! >;P!). I felt bad not being able to give them something
more about the games other than my verbal demo. One girl actually
wanted the shirt off of my back! But I said it was an exclusive
shirt and I didn't feel like freezing to death in the cool California
night!
I know I have been silent recently and haven't been able to report
that much since I joined, but I am out there spreading the word
about Young Jedi and now hopefully a little more about Jedi Knights!
