YJ Day 1
& The Day Before
2000-14-10:
Highs and Lows for day 1:
- H
: Michonne (Aurra Sing), for having fun with signing my cards.
- L
: Not getting enough sleep. Nor photo coping my deck list.
- H
: Playing some great fun games.
- L
: The service at the Hotel Food outlets SUCK!
- H
: For Getting to know the Tonika Sisters. ( Jen & Jen)
- H
: Learning what I need to refine my decks for day 2.
- H
: Finding out that Katie B. is Mark Pontings Wife..Cool! You
both are awesome.
The begining to this great week was not what I expected, this
being my first Con and all. The flight over was my first, so you
can imagine the excitement of just the plain ride. Since it was
so late I was very tired, and so was my Co-Pilot Tim Guzman. I
should of never taken a nap. For on the first day of gaming due
to the 3 hour difference I was beat. It did give me time to refine
my decks, so I thought. For YJ day 1 the top 38 players had to
make it into day 2. That was going to be easy to accomplish since
there were only 41 players that showed up. However I would play
my best anyway, if not just because I knew the next day I would
be playing Day 2 Qualifiers which I knew had to have strong decks.
So what better way to test my decks out and refine them later.
So here goes....
My
first match up was against a great sport, and it was very cool
that he even showed up with the rest of his family. The draw back
was the Quick kill. (David Rouleau 1418 Yavin 4) The poor kid
had 7 transports and no starfighters to counter mine. That had
to be the quickest 8 minute game I played. Anakin Raced over his
deck with no obstacles.

Highs : Getting the game over quickly.
Lows : Playing a little kid.
Game
2. In YJ if you have no weapons, their is no game. Enough said.
(John Berke 1690 Dagobah) Tanks killed my Jedi deck. After the
loss, I figured I would play him for fun to see if it was my deck
or how I played. I got my Jar-Jar's weapons, Jedi force pushes,
and I get the win by 35 cards. Oh well, you win some and you loose
some.

Highs : None.
Lows : Not getting my Jar-Jars or Weapons.
Game
3. (Kelly Kunze 1618 Bespin) Tight game. I have my force pushing
going on and I kill his Tanks. I learn to keep a great card to
put more of into my decks. At the end of the game the kid was
crying and I gave him a German card that one of the Germans gave
me hoping It would cheer him up. It does to a certain extent.
FW

Highs : Learning & Beating a tank deck.
Lows : Watch the kid cry & having too many dupes in my deck
.
Game 4. (Derek Brooks 1600 Yavin 4 ) Another tight game. Sith
Maul, gets totally stuck on planet, But Senators win the game
for me.
FW
aginst his Jedi Deck by 2(+2)
Highs : Winning with Senators instead of relying on my Mauls.
Lows : Not getting my transports.
Game
5. (Maura Chace 1556 Yavin 4 ) Don't Remember the game
FW

Highs : Kicking Yavin Butt again!
Lows : None
Game Six. Exciting game. It was a pleasure to meet Marks wife.
She always kids me about my matt I used to play my cards on. I
guess thats the trade mark for Tatooine Las Vegas Players. (Katie
Billings 1674 Tatooine) Will she get her revenge on day two?
FW
aginst her Sith Deck by 2(+26)
Highs : Being good sports and getting a rep with my mat.
Lows : Beating a fellow Tatooine Player.
Game
Seven. (Patrick Sullivan 1826 Yavin 4 ) Finally a high ranking
player. A good player at that. His plays were a challange up to
the point where he made a mistake, which I totaly felt bad after
I made him take his deployed counters back into hand for an Anakin
he already had deployed. I believe I still would of won the game,
but only by 1 card if I let him transport and go ahead and deploy
the Anakin again. He insits though that it was a lesson for him
to pay more attention. Sorry Patrick, If I seemed an ass that
game. The world is not enough.
FW
aginst his Jedi Deck by 2(+6)
Highs : Playing and meeting a fellow Councilor. Beating another
Yavin Player.
Lows : Making him take his card back in hand.
Game
Eight (Larry Plano 1751 Kashyyyk) Wow, I get to play against a
Wookiee. Not really. The game was fun. Jedi's kicked butt, and
lack of transports on his part hurt him big time, especially when
he had them all in his first hand. Quick counting of his cards
lead me to win this game.
FW
aginst his Sith Deck by 2(+30)
Highs : Having alot of fun this game.
Lows : Not playing against a real Wookiee
Stats
for the day :
