RATINGS ONLY MEAN AS MUCH AS THEY MEAN TO YOU
Some people end up in scammers games on accident
look CLOSELY at the names... boosters like to mimic names of people they don't like
# of games played is shown in order to save you time (in deciding how inflated someone's rating might be)
Other scammers will be added to this project (as time permits)
I will try to update these pages on a weekly basis (again, as time permits)
Cheaters and FF'er's are worse than scammers and harder to track
I quit counting when someone reaches 100 games scammed on a single ID
norm3160 is a STARTING POINT; there are LOTS of "feeders" (a.k.a. scammers)
which brings me to....
WHAT ARE CHEATERS, FFer's and SCAMMERS?
Cheaters
Cheaters take many forms, but the common thread is that they are partners who format ways of communicating with each other unbeknownst to thier unsuspecting opponents. They are worse than scammers Because they take away rating points from their opponents, without consent. It's hard to tell sometimes if the cards are against you, your opponents just make wild calls, or your opponents are cheating. I for one do not always play by Hoyle or Cambridge rules, so I caution anyone from assuming someone is cheating because they don't "call next" or they call trump with 9, 10 and make their point. However, a few notable signs indicating your opponents might be cheating would include repeated pauses on the call or first lead, or continuous calls into their partner's hand.
FFer's
FFer's, otherwise known as forfeiter's are the WORSE kind of losers (in my opinion) because they cause a player to lose double the points they would normally lose. Often the cause is beyond their control. When someone has been idle for 3 minutes a screen comes up which allows the other players to either 1). force the idle player to forfeit the game, 2). to wait for the player to return or 3). to cancel the game. At my tables I ask the players not to FF and when 3 minutes are up I then boot the idle player (sometimes can take as many as 6 attempts). Then I quickly place a robot in the seat (anyone can invite a robot to fill an empty seat). When the arrow comes to me I generally wait a few more minutes to give the player a chance to return. If the player does not return I open the table for a sub. IF an FF occurs, the player who was FF'd loses all the points the losing team would have lost if they HAD lost the game and he gets a loss on his record, his partner gets a win on his record and loses no points, and the opponents gain the rating points as if they won the game and get a win on their record.
Scammers'
Scammers are curiously concerned with ratings and the notion that the higher your rating the better the player you are. They also seem to feel that they are somehow screwing Yahoo!. They use other players to boost their rating. This is done by playing at EXTREMELY uneven tables. A typical table might be 20,000 points off. There are 4 id's involved but possibly only 1, 2 or 3 players. one team will be comprised of winners and the other team comprised of the "feeder id" (or very high rating id) and the loser. The loser will get FF'd on so that the "feeder" rating is not affected. The winners than will gain approximately 32 rating points per game. They simply start the game and pass until the arrow points to the loser. Then wait 3 minutes and FF the loser and start again. Click here to see a typical scammers table.
This is truly in its infancy.. but for now its all I have.. so if you want to share an opinion about euchre.. and/or Yahoo! euchre please do so... lets try to remember that we all come here for pretty much the same intentions... to relax and have fun! Of course some of us have different ideas of how we accomplish those goals.
