This site has been created as a compliment to the electronic newsletter entitled Tropical Soil Science and also as an exclusive KNOWLEDGE PORTAL for the soils of the tropics.
Knowledge on the soils of the tropics is still rather limited. Increasing demands for food, accelerated land degradation and rising concerns to maintain the integrity of the environment, especially in agro-ecosystems, creates a sense of urgency in terms of implementing resilience-based sustainable land management systems to manage this vast expanse of potentially highly productive soils.
It is strongly believed that knowledge and current attempts to manage these soils will be enhanced through rigorous activities within this KNOWLEDGE PORTAL. The targeted groups are not just scientific and management groups throughout the web world, but provisions are also made within this PORTAL to bring the younger generation into this wonderful world of TROPICAL SOIL SCIENCE.
