RULES & REGULATIONS

This is a 3rd Edition D&D game starting at
FIRST LEVEL.

~ GAMING STYLE ~

This Fantasy Horror Epic carries great risk to your character so be forewarned. If death occurs, then that is the unfortunate lifestyle of being a gamer. No belligerent attitudes please. If you survive, you really deserve to be proud! I'll favor your character any way I can.
DM controls all Die Rolls.
This is not a Hack/Slash adventure, yet it will accomodate the story as it unfolds. Players are urged to delve into character development and give birth to a unique personality.
Roleplaying, after all, is what D&D is supposed to be about.

~ CHARACTER DEATH ~

Occurs at -3 HP not -10 HP; -2 to 0 is unconscious

~ FAITH % ~

Every character who worships a Deity has to pass their Faith Percentage to activate their Granted Ability. Every character's faith begins at 100%. Your Faith % is secret only to the DM up until the next level is reached. You cannot fail 3 consecutive rolls or 5 in a lifetime or the deity abandons you and a curse {TBA} is bestowed. Holding/Raising Faith requires prayer, honoring Holy Days, and Ritual Sacrifice {depending on your Deity}.
Erasing MFR {Missed Faith Rolls} costs 1 DMP.

~ POSTING ~

Every time I write a story fragment, it is called a PASSAGE {PSG}.
From this, you must respond via character reaction.
This can be done by two ways {or both}.

PRIVATE ~
This post is anything your character is thinking about and/or any subtle action taken. Any character information {such as detailed plans for the future}, sheet information {readied spells, ability activations} are sent directly to the DM and not anyone else.
PUBLIC ~ This is anything audible or obvious actions that can be heard or seen by anybody in your vicinity. It can be sent to all emails that are required to hear it.

Do NOT send Private emails to others!! {They cannot read your mind}. This is a violation of gaming policy and could cost you penalty XP if warnings aren't heeded.

Avoid TAGGING: This is an incorporation of a prior PSG and/or character responses into your official posts. This is difficult to edit and adds unnecessary work for the DM. To avoid this, do not REPLY to the PSG; Simply make a new post from 'scratch' with all the proper addresses that need be there.
In short, if you are confused, just send Privately.
Do not send any game post that doesn't include the DM address.

~ XP ~

Besides the standard ways, you receive XP for great writeups. I grade each post you turn in and will give you the average results at the end of each Chapter.
A CHAPTER
= 10 Passages.
A BOOK = 100 Passages = 10 Chapters
Every Book will have a "Millionaire-Style Competition" in which 5 will compete for prizes.
100% = 250 XP
95-99.9 = 100 XP
90-94.9 = 50 XP
80-89.9 = 25 XP
70-79.9 = 10 XP
0-69.9 = 0 XP

EXCEPTIONAL ROLEPLAYING: When you have accurately obtained the essence of a PSG due to your excellent writing skills, you will receive BONUS XP as long as every PSG before it {in the Chapter} tops out at 100% as well.
Everyone will receive their own XP CAPSULE after every Chapter. The Top 3 writers will receive the results of everyone else PLUS DM Points {DMP} that give them special game benefits {Erasing MT's & MFR, Extra Vacation, & Book 2 Tourney Ticket}. Treat this like the Olympics:

GOLD ~ 3
SILVER ~ 2

BRONZE ~ 1
This is not a competition amongst you, but yet there is something to be said for inspiring my players to roleplay well.

FAIR/POOR ROLEPLAYING: Everyone has an ESOT score that reflects your level of writing talent, character portrayal, clue detection, and overall game committment. Players scoring a minimal 80% or greater are allowed to try out for the campaign again should their character perish. FAIR ZONE {70-79.9%} You are allowed to continue in this campaign, but should you die, you will not be asked to rejoin because your RP has been marginal. POOR {0-69.9%} is the Caution/Warning/Dismissal Arena. A Caution is issued the first time your score falls here and you will be asked to RP better. A Warning is issued if your score falls here a second time. Guidelines will be given to help you raise your score. If, after all my guidance, your score falls in this zone a third time, you will be dismissed. I require all players to give a FULL effort. I, as DM, pour my heart into the Campaign and expect the same from my gamers.

~ MISSED TURNS ~

Every Passage will have a DEADLINE in which you must submit your post. You miss Deadline and you receive an MT. Your PSG grade will be a '0' unless you choose damage control and post late {MT still counts}. Three MT's in a 10 Passage string OR 5 within this adventure and you will be dismissed as a player. I will not allow anyone to delay adventure progress.
OPTIONAL POSTING: Unlike Deadlines, sometimes partitioned PSGS allow you to post at your discretion and is NOT mandatory. This allows you to further your roleplaying if you wish and give certain actions detrimental to the outcome of the PSG itself.

~ ERASING MT'S ~

If you fear you've made mistakes and are tinkering with dismissal, you can erase MT'S at the cost of 250 XP or 3 DM Points {at First Level}. Please pay attention because you cannot reapply to this Campaign if you are Dismissed.

~ LEADERSHIP ~

Every time a major decision has to be made by the group, a Vote takes place. In this event, every character gives their opinion {secret or public} and these votes are Power-ranked according to character XP. The higher the better, because this process shows your character success in this adventure and how avid a participater you are. The current Leader will receive a Ranked Report at the beginning of every chapter.

~ VACATIONS ~

Everybody loves them and everybody needs them. Despite your love of adventure, people may need a break. Everyone receives 30 Days per year {Including DM}. You must tell me before Deadline you are stepping away from the game and I'll place your character as an NPC {still susceptible to death}. Those VT not used can be carried over to next year or cashed in at 10 XP per.
A new 30 Days will be given March 1, 2005.
1 DM Point buys 3 VT.

~ HAVE FUN ~

Remember, we are here to have fun and kick ass. I lay these policies down, because I take my DMing seriously and want you to have a real life-like adventure. Any questions, please ask. Thank You for being a part of something special.
