Lily

The lily has long been regarded as a symbol of purity.  It also has religious relevance due to its association with the Virgin Mary.
The lily is one of the oldest flowers in the world, and is often found painted on the walls of ancient Greek palaces.  It was the personal flower of Hera, the moon goddess.
According to legend, the first lilies sprang from the tears shed by Eve when she left the Garden of Eden.
