"Foreigner Blues"

I went for a walk and what did I see?
Lots of strange faces were looking at me.
I tried to talk, and guess what occurred?
No one understood me, not even a word.

Went for some grub at a small joint nearby-
Later that evening I thought I might die.
My stomach got noisy, my mind filled with gloom,
And I spent a good hour stuck in my bathroom.
So I went to the doctor and he gave me some pills
To get rid of the shakes and the sweats and the chills.
And when I felt better I went for some beer-
Woke up the next day tryin' to remember the year.

Well I liked this girl so I touched her hand.
She told me, "Sorry, you're from a strange land."
I guess she's never been outside this place
To make a big deal of the nose on my face.

I went to my job but my boss wasn't kind-
He took my money and left me behind.
Still I worked hard and didn't complain
Despite the mistreatment and goin' insane.
I felt as lonesome as a rock in the sea
Until I heard that you're worse off than me.
I hope things get better but I doubt they will
Unless you find a place that's a thrill.
That's why I'm headin' to another strange land,
Hopin' somebody there just might take my hand.
