When looking for childcare, there are many factors to consider. One of the most important is to check out the background of the provider you are considering. Get references and check them out. When you are interviewing a provider ask questions. Below is a list of questions you can ask potential childcare providers.

Are they licensed?

How many children are they allowed to watch?

Do they require a helper?

How does the provider handle discipline?

Are you able to drop in for unannounced visits?

Has the provider taked CRP and 1st aid training, and dows she have certificates?

What are the providers policies concerning sick children?

How does the provider interact with children?

How often does the provider take training?

Is the area where the children play clean, and are there a variety of age appropriate toys?

How much t.v do the children watch per day?

Is there a schedule of what the children do per day?

Does the provider offer a preschool program, or is there any type of learning activities offered?

Is the provider willing to work with you when it comes time to potty train your child?

What are her policies concerning potty training?

What are the fees for childcare, and how does she want to be paid?

What are her policies on late payment, late pick-up, vacations, provider absences, holidays, and your own time off?

Does she have her policies written and a copy given to you for easy reference?

These are just a group of basic questions that your provider should feel comfortable in answering. Most providers get pd vacation, and days off. Check when interviewing, so nothing is a surprise to you.
