Welcome to my electronic portfolio!

My name is Eric Bright and I am currently a 7th grade math teacher at North Ridge Middle School in Danville, IL. I teach 2 sections of regular 7th grade math and the 7th grade gifted math class. I have been teaching at North Ridge for 3 years now and I also did my student teaching there.

I graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in the spring of 2001 with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Education. I have a type 09 certificate which qualifies me to teach mathematics in grades 6 through 12. During my years at the University of Illinois I had teaching experiences at Centennial and Central High School in Champaign, Columbia Alternative School in Champaign and Urbana Middle School in Urbana. I taught basic skills, middle school math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry and Algebra 2 during these experiences.

Since working at North Ridge I have also had experience with gifted education. I have begun my Level 2 Gifted certification and currently teach the 7th grade gifted math class. I have also had experiences such as purchasing and piloting new textbooks, helping with school discipline, presenting at the state AIMS conference on ISAT Extended-Response problems, rewriting district curriculum and much more. You can find all my experiences under the Extra-Curricular page and the School Participation page.

Please take a moment to look around my site and see my experiences, policies and philosophies of education. If you have any questions you can email me or see the Contact page for my contact information.
