BAND MEMBERS

TROY SOLIS -- SAX, GUITAR, VOCALS

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Troy spent 15 years in Los Angeles playing saxophone with such jazz greats as Sonny Stitt and Jimmy Smith. More recently, he has been the host of "open mic's" and blues jams all over Palm Beach County.  Many successful musicians from LA to FLA will tell you Troy gave them their first chance on stage.  He is a respected music instructor, having mastered over a dozen instruments. One would never guess that the hot guitar soloist on Brain Stew is the Fine & Mellow saxophonist, and that's who Troy Solis is. Mostly playing tenor sax and lead guitar, Troy is known for bringing a huge variety of musical instrument to the show.  He is the leader and arranger of Equinox and writes most of the band's original music.

RENÉE SOLIS -- LEAD VOCALS, 12-STRING GUITAR

Her lead vocals are the highlight of our band. Our "queen of the 12-string" comes from Southern California, where she was a member of the bands, "CIA" and "Jerry's Kids". Her never-ending pallet of vocal styles spearheads the diversity of Equinox, and her rock-solid rhythm guitar is worthy of the James Brown Band. Included in Renée's wide range of vocal influences are Billie Holiday, Chrissy Hynde, Ray Charles, Freddy Mercury, Steve Miller, and Elvis Costello.

PHIL MANN -- BASS, VIBES, THEREMIN

"The Professor" is originally from Maryland, but has called South Florida his home for many years.  Often sought for his knowledge of trivia, The Professor can be counted on to supply the answer.  He has has loads of book learnin' and a was educated as a percussionist in both popular and classical conditioning.  Playing the right-handed bass upside down, this left-handed musician has played in a vast variety of orchestras, bands and ensembles, in the US and abroad.  Phil really rips on the vibraphone, but can also be counted on to play soulfully and sweetly when the time is right.  Influences are too many to mention, but they include Frank Zappa and The Doors.

KEIL BRAND -- DRUMS

Raised on the tiny Caribbean Island of Dominica, Keil took up drums as a blonde-headed toddler and was soon taught by the local natives, who nick-named him "young blue eyes".  Island influences are apparent when listening to his array of planet-friendly beats.  From classic rock to reggae, Keil's natural style has been a part of the South Florida music scene for many years.  He has opened for Molly Hatchet and is a former member of Eric Culberson's Blues Band.  Keil's dedication to "Equinox", and music in general, inspires this band to carry on.
