The World Moves On.. | How to help! | |||||||||||||||||||||||
On December 26, 2005, a huge tsunami hit countries around the Indian Ocean, killing hundreds of thousands of people and leaving millions homeless. Sri Lanka was one of the worst-affected countries. Tens of thousands of families living along the coast lost their homes, livelihoods or lives. A huge international reconstruction effort took place and many people have been helped to rebuild their lives. Meet Chaini. She is 20 years old and lost. After the tsunami, she became a key figure in the reconstruction of her village, outside Galle in southern Sri Lanka. |
