Return to the Austrian Notgeld, Then and Now Main Page
Hargelsberg, Oberösterreich
The small town of Hargelsberg not only issued several series of Notgeld, but its tiny villages also were responsible for four or more emissions throughout 1920-1921.  Shown here are a few public buildings from the town, such as the town hall (above), the church, and the middle school (right).  The map below shows Hargelsberg with a few of its Notgeld-issuing villages, such as Penking, Firsching, and Pirchhorn.   The front and back of the 90 heller note further below is a standard series, printed in several colours.  Numeous villages and other nearby towns made us of this style. Nobody took credit for printing them, however!
