Here we're gathering from the new Zero tank. Having the cottages nearby made it real easy to get power for the vacuum pump! This is the mainline coming into our new Zero tank. Adding vacuum to this system has more than doubled the yield from this bush.

Here we are gathering from our main system on March 16/02. These 800 gallon and 600 gallon tanks need to be gathered from often when the sap runs well. This is typical for our sugar bush - the trees appear to grow out of the rocks! The rock's so close to the surface that we're generally done producing before most in a dry spring.
There are never too many helpers around the sugar bush. Here, our daughter-in-law Estelle and her parents Jack and Lily help out by labelling the freshly-bottled syrup.
Our son Marty gathering the sap at our main pumping station. This station has an 800 gallon (shown here) and a 600 gallon Zero milk tank which have been converted for collecting sap. We also have two other Zero tanks and several stocker tanks at other locations to collect the sap.
The ice storm of January 1998 nearly destroyed our entire bush. We were assessed at 55% crown loss. This picture is typical of the devastation.
Here's one of George's favourite pictures - making maple syrup with the newest Ennis - Jessica (daughter of Marty and Estelle).
