Worldwide Marriage Encounter Priest Day
3rd Sunday in October
World Priest Day (WPD) is a celebration & affirmation of the men who commit their lives to the Lord and the Church via the Sacrament of Holy Orders. It is an opportunity for Catholic parishioners to thank, affirm and share their love and support for our priests.

Dear Fellow Catholics,

Let's make the World Priest Day celebration continue throughout the year!

We are in a very important time in our Church, and are together on the journey with the good men who have said “Yes” to the Lord and the Church via the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

WorldWide Marriage Encounter joins the Knights of Columbus, National Council of Catholic Women,  Serra Club and other Catholic Lay Ministries in affirming our priests by celebrating the annual World Priest Day  (WPD) during the 3rd week of October, WPD focuses on celebrating the ongoing affirmation of priests.  It is a day or several days to rejoice in the Sacrament of Holy Orders.  On this day, or during the week preceding or following it, Catholic parishioners across the country are encouraged to affirm their priests.  We ask that you shower them with the love they deserve.

Introduce yourself and your family to your parish priest if you have not already did so.  A WPD celebration can be as simple as sending a card or having lunch or dinner with your pastor or associate.  Consider having your group create and deliver gift baskets, candy bars to all the priests in your vicinity.  The most important thing is that it is a special occasion for reaching out and developing greater awareness and appreciation of our priests and let them know how much
they are appreciated and loved.

We hope you will join us in the celebration of World Priest Day, this September and throughout the year, and let our priests know we support and care about them!

World Priest Day Prayer

Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to ask your blessing on our brothers,
Whom you have called to the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

Lord Jesus,
We ask that you support them with your presence
And fill them with grace to serve You faithfully.

Gracious Spirit,
Unite us in service with those whom you have called.
Open our hearts to encourage our brothers and sons to pursue your calling,
And open their hearts to hear Your call to this most Holy Sacrament.

Amen
