 Psychological Profiling of a Cheater

According to Dr. Claudette Lewis of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, "In a single day, most people lie a minimum of 25 times." It's very hard to tell when someone is lying," says Dr. Lewis. She says some indicators of deception, like facial and body language, could merely be signs of anxiety or nervousness that have nothing to do with lying. But, keeping that in mind, here are some ways to figure out if you're being told the truth:

Look for discrepancies between speech and facial or body movements.

A liar's pupils may dilate.

A change in voice level and pitch are possible signs of a lie.

More shrugs of the shoulders? That's a possible sign.

Too little eye contact — and too much contact — are both fishy.

Other Signs Of A Cheater:

Your spouse spends an excessive amount of time in the on-line chat rooms.

Your spouse pays less attention to you.

Your spouse is preoccupied with on-line chatting, more distant emotionally.

Your spouse is insisting on chatting alone.

Your spouse has unaccounted time away from home.

Your spouse has a decreased interest in sex.

Your spouse becomes defensive during normal conversations.
