Are we subtly encouraged to light up or drink when partying? ... Does this get reinforced by the T.V., Films and advertising? ... Do These get internalized and impact upon our behavior with unplanned 'romantic' interludes? ... Could the latter lead to violence, premature pregnancy, or AIDS? ... Finally what are the myths of Romance? Drinking makes for more fun! Smoking makes for me look older, more sophisticated and sexy! What are the answers?..Do Drunks have more fun? What risks are involved? ...Lack of Safe Sex?... SEXUAL HARASSMENT: DATE RAPE Video, plus interactive program. Audience participation encouraged. A gentle lesson in empowerment for freshmen orientations, dorms, women studies programs, health education, sociology and psychology departments. For young women today, date rape and sexual harassment are an all too common experience. In this moving documentary women discuss their experiences and suggest ways of dealing with sex harassment and acquaintance rape; which is not an act of passion, but is one of intimidation and force. TOMBOYS ARE GREAT! Video, plus interactive program. Females from different parts of the United States, of different races and ethnicity, describe their love of movement and sports. Physical activity has brought them much happiness. "I really feel good about myself and really feminine!" All of these females were called Tomboys in a derogatory manner. They, however, did not allow that to stop them from being involved in sports. The unhealthy stereotype of a passive, 'good', little girl is described as an excellent seeding ground for later anxiety, depression and dependency. The healthiest thing a little girl can be is a "Tomboy", because "Tomboy's are great, just little girls that like to move around and be free."
CALMING FEARS: RESPONDING TO TERRORISM AFTER 9/11 Video, plus interactive program. Dr Pollner, a New Yorker and trauma expert, who witnessed the WTC tragedy, will lead an interactive video program with audience participation. Designed to answer questions on dealing with today's problems and limiting stress.
