The Winter's Tale

Here we are in the home stretch. One last week of classes to go. One final essay to write. One final sheet to hand in for the exchange. One final productive push before exams start to creep up and then the summer, ah the summer...

So I thought I'd encourage time to move a bit faster with the new picture up top, and to discourage the weather from snowing. It's April, for heaven's sake. Stop messing with my head, you bastard clouds.

As I said, though, these past few weeks have been a challenge. Last week was tough, but I made it through mostly because I got an extension on one of my larger essays, and because I had the weekend to look forward to.

Initially, I had discouraged Lara and Caitlin from visiting Kingston, as I had two essays to work through, and Geoff had a film project to do, so we would have no time to see them. But, as usual, Cait and Larie didn't listen to me, and I'm really glad they didn't. Sure, I had to work most of Sunday night and Monday morning to get my Chinese History essay in on time, but it was worth it. We had so much fun.

I spent Friday buzzing around the house, moving shoes from the doorway, doing laundry, and generally decluttering my room. Then I had one really horrible shower (Lindz used the washroom while I was rising my hair, and all the water cut out), then sat around and watched television all night until the girls showed up around 10pm. I had thought that they would want to go out once they arrived, but I guess all the driving and the fancy dinner tuckered them out. Instead, we sat around the living room, taking shots of something really disgusting (Crème de Cacao and Crème de Menthe -- bleh), talking and playing a very strange drinking game that involved picking up a paper bag with your teeth. Needless to say, I fell quite a few times and was the definite loser of every round. Go me.

The next day, we met with Andrew and went for breakfast at the Epicure before going to visit Geoff in Kingston General Hospital. His parents had come up for the day, too, so we all spent the majority of the day talking amongst ourselves, cracking jokes, and making a game out of Geoff's sufferings. Good fun. We left around 4, and decided to go to the bank and then to the grocery store, which worked out nicely for me as I had to put in some cheques and purchase some food, and it's a long walk to both places. When we got back to the house, we made some stir-fry for dinner, a lovely cake for desert and drank two bottles of wine between us (I really don't know how we managed that). Around 11, we left for the Tir Nan Og, where we drank some more, met with Tina, talked to Ryan, and Caitlin got harrassed by some Acadian guy from RMC. Ewie.

Sunday, of course, I felt horrible, so it was a good thing that we'd slept in the living room (Cait and Lar on the pull-out and me on the couch). We watched a few movies in bed, and had cake for breakfast. It was lovely and lazy, and I wish my whole life could be spent like that.

But, of course, it can't. Lar and Caity left around 3pm, and I had to go write an essay. I worked on it until 3am, then woke up at 8am the next morning, typed until 12, then handed it in at 3pm. So really, I didn't need the whole weekend, I just needed 24 very intense hours to get it done. I rule.

And tonight, I'm writing my last essay of the term, which I am determined to hand in on time. It just really won't do to hand in my last essay late. That would just be silly. I just want to get it done so I can relax for the next few days, you know? Besides, it's on The Winter's Tale, and while I'm not terribly familiar with it, the question I'm dealing with is so specific that a monkey could write out this essay. And I am smarter than a monkey. So.
