**UPDATES**

07/29/06
Well almost a whole year has past since Hurricane Katrina changed the way people in New Orleans live.  In certain areas there is progress.  In others, there is none.  Our city is wounded, our city has been devastated...but she will return to the way she once was...some day.  For now though, I want to warn you that the rental prices listed on this site are PRE-KATRINA.  I have updated the
Uptown page as that's the area most in demand right now. Since Katrina, rent has doubled, sometimes tripled.   Now obviously not all rentals in New Orleans have doubled and tripled, but the majority have, and especially in those areas taht did NOT flood.  To find out what parts of New Orleans flooded, and how badly, visit this  flood website

The job market is iffy - in some areas such as construction, medical field, and the food/service industry, it is thriving.  In others, it isn't.  Be patient - if you are looking to move here - make sure that you have a job BEFORE making the move, and see if your future employer will help with finding you a reasonably-priced rental.  Home sales are strong or so I've heard.  Insurance in this area, as well as electric/gass bills (thanks a lot Entergy!) are sky-high.  Be prepared, and best of luck!!!

The devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina has changed the lives of those who live and work in New Orleans, as well as the city that I love.  My heart goes out to all of those affected by the storm and my thoughts and prayers go out to those devastated.   I hope that our city rebounds with a passion and the life and love that is New Orleans will be back very soon.

I've noticed quite a few of you on the guestbook requesting more photos for the website.  Unfortunately due to bandwidth problems, that can't happen.   This website is made on Geocities' 100% free website and therefore they only alot me so much bandwidth space.  The more pictures I add, the less content I can have.  In order to keep the website free,
this is the way it has to be.  Sorry you won't get tons of pretty pictures on this website,
but you WILL get tons of helpful information :)

Please DO NOT email me at Em@neworleans.com anymore.
Please continue to e-mail me at:
EmilyInNewOrleans@yahoo.com THANKS :)
