 His father being a highschool teacher, YOU was raised in an environment that appears to be completely unrelated to rockbands. However, being a preococious child, he first got into rock music* at about the age of 4 ~ 5 years old. During his childhood, he loved and often listened to C.C.B.'s record "Romantic ga tomaranai" that he got his parents to buy for him. After that, he became a junior highschool student and he got an electric guitar which he admired because of its potential for self-expression without using words. However, he gave it up because of his unsatisfaction that the sound had no power (in those days, YOU had no idea about the existance of effectors).
Then one day, he went over to his friend's house and his friend was proudly playing the bass. YOU was attracted by the deep sound of the bass and felt that it was a fated enounter. That was the birth of the bassist YOU. When he graduated from highschool, YOU, who felt strongly about becoming a professional musician, went in search of new members to start a real band. In those days, he was active as the main composer of the band. After various activities, the band "Arege" that YOU had created stopped activity because they lost its guitarist and the drummer became ill. During that time, YOU decided to leave Arege in order to move forward.
In his own words, "If it's (something I can't read cause it's too blurry--Niji), the message and sound I want to communicate, it's got to be them." And so, YOU called MAYU and KAMIJO and they began making songs together. They met AYA in March 2001, and formed the band NEW SODMY.
*literally, "he made his band sound debut" but that sounds awkward in english. |
