Heartstrings

This poem was a gift to me from a fellow LOTH sister. My sincerest thanks to Circe ! May you always have love in your heart to share!

The Emerald

This uniqueness

Ethereal

Splendor

Fireworks of ocean

Skies

Green lit stars

Magic

Soul

Gazing

From your eyes

Capture

A bit of it

See this gem?

Bestowing upon the world

The wonder

Of what I feel inside

I offer you..

The Emerald...

 Bless My 'Puter

Every night I lie in bed, this little prayer inside my head

God bless my mom and dad, and bless my children.

And take care of my husband, hr brings me so much joy...

God there's just one more thing that I wish you would do ,

If you don't mind my asking to just bless my puter too ?

Now I know that it's not normal to bless a small machine,

But listen just a second and I'll try to explain...

You see, that little metal box holds more than odds and ends.

Inside those small components rests a hundred loving friends

Some it's true I've never seen, and most I've never met,

We've never shaken hands or ever truly hugged, and yet...

I know for sure they love me. By the kindnesses they give

And this little scrap of metal , is how I get to where they live.

By faith is how I know them, much the same as I know you.

I share in life it brings them, so if it's ok with you ..

Just take an extra minute from your duties up above.

To bless this little hunk of steel that's filled with so much love.

So god, Please Bless My Puter..

Amen......

I enjoy getting e-mail from you !

Today when I signed online,
I was happy and pleased to see.
That in my incoming mail,
Was a letter from you to me.

I like the notes you send me
And all of the giggles too!
But the biggest thrill of all,
Was seeing it came from you .

So keep the e-mail coming
I enjoy it ever so much
And know that I really enjoy
Whenever you keep in touch!

"The Golden Gift"

Some time ago, a friend of mine punished his 3 yr old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight , and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the tree. Nevertheless the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said "This is for you , Daddy"

He was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found that the box was empty. He yelled at her, "Don't you know that when you give someone a present, there's supposed to be something inside of it ?

The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said " Oh Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into the box All for you , Daddy" The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for forgiveness. My friend told me that he kept the gold box by his bed for years. Whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each of us as parents has been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

Friends Without Faces

Ode to the friends we chat with on the internet!!

We sit and we type and we stare at our screens

We all have to wonder, what this possibly means .

We chat with each other, we share all our woes,

Small groups do we form and gang up on our foes.

We wait for somebody to type out our name,

We want recognition and offer the same.

We give kisses and hugs and sometimes we flirt,

In rooms we chat deeply and reveal why we hurt.

We form friendships but why is a thing we don't know,

Though most of them flounder some flourish and grow.

Why is it that onscreen, we can all be so bold,

Telling our secrets that have never been told?

Why I it we share those deep thoughts in our mind

With those we can't see. It's as clear as a bell.

We all have our problems and need someone to tell.

We can't tell "real" people, but tell someone we must

So we turn to the "puter, and to those we can trust.

Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains,

They are friends without faces and with odd little names.

Why am I the one to Die?

I went to a party, Mom
I remembered what you said,
You told me not to drink , Mom...
So I drank soda instead.

I really felt proud inside, Mom..
The way you said that I would
I didn't drink and drive, Mom...
Even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing, Mom
I know you are always right .
Now the party is finally ending, Mom
As everyone is driving out of site.

As I got into my car, Mom
I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me,
So responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, Mom
But as I pulled out in the road,
The other car didn't see me, Mom
And hit me like a load.

As I lay there on the pavement, Mom
I hear the policeman say,
The other guy is drunk, Mom
And now I'm the one who will pay.

I 'm lying here dying, Mom
I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me, Mom?
My life just burst like a balloon.

There is blood all around me, Mom
And most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say , Mom
I'll die in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you , Mom
"I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mom
The others didn't think.

He was probably at the same party as I .
The only difference is,
He drank and I will die"
Why do people drink, Mom?
It can ruin your whole life.

I'm feeling sharp pains now.
Pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking, Mom
And I don't think it's fair.
I 'm lying here dying and all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom
Tell Daddy to be brave...
And when I go to heaven, Mom
Put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.

Someone should have told him, Mom
Not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom
I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom
I'm becoming very scared...
Please don't cry for me, Mom.
When I needed you , you were always there.

I have one last question, Mom
Before I say goodbye...
I didn't drink and drive,
So why am I the one to die?

Why do I believe in you ?

Why

When I speak the truth ?

Do words fall upon deaf ears

Why

When I explain ?

It matters not

Why

When I try ?

Does it not get believed in

Why

When I share

Does he shy away

Why

When it's love that makes me try ?

He turns a blind eye

Love makes me want to try ?

Maybe it's just that I am me,

And that's how I believe in you .

A Pizza, a Party, and a Moonlight Ride

Jenny was so happy about the house they had found.
For once in her life 'twas on the right side of town.
She unpacked her things with such great ease.
As she watched her new curtains blow in the breeze.

How wonderful it was to have her own room.
School would be starting, she'd have friends over soon.
There'd be sleep-overs, and parties; she was so happy
It's just the way she wanted her life to be.

On the first day of school, everything went great.
She made new friends and even got a date!
She thought, "I want to be popular and I'm going to be,
Because I just got a date with the star of the team!"

To be known in this school you had to have a clout,
And dating this guy would sure help her out.
There was only one problem stopping her fate.
Her parents had said she was too young to date.

Well, I just won't tell them the entire truth.
They won't know the difference; what's there to lose?"
Jenny asked to stay with her friends that night.
Her parents frowned but said, "All right."

Excited, she got ready for the big event
But as she rushed around like she had no sense,
She began to feel guilty about all the lies,
But what's a pizza, a party, and a moonlight ride?

Well the pizza was good, and the party was great,
But the moonlight ride would have to wait.
For Jeff was half drunk by this time.
But he kissed her and said that he was just fine.

Then the room filled with smoke and Jeff took a puff.
Jenny couldn't believe he was smoking that stuff.
Now Jeff was ready to ride to the point

But only after he'd smoked another joint.

They jumped in the car for the moonlight ride,
Not thinking that he was too drunk to drive.
They finally made it to the point at last,
And Jeff started trying to make a pass.

A pass is not what Jenny wanted at all
(and by a pass, I dont mean playing football).
"Perhaps my parents were right....maybe I am too young.
Boy, how could I ever, ever be so dumb."

With all of her might, she pushed Jeff away:
"Please take me home, I dont want to stay."
Jeff cranked up the engine and floored the gas.
In a matter of seconds they were going too fast.

As Jeff drove on in a fit of wild anger,
Jenny knew that her life was in danger.
She begged and pleaded for him to slow down,
But he just got faster as they neared the town.

"Just let me get home! I'll confess that I lied.
I really went out for a moonlight ride."
Then all of a sudden, she saw a big flash.
"Oh God, Please help us! We're going to crash!"

She doesn't remember the force of impact.
Just that everything all of a sudden went black.
She felt someone remove her from the twisted rubble,
And heard, "Call an ambulance! These kids are in trouble!"

Voices she heard...a few words at best.
But she knew there were two cars involved in the wreck.
Then wondered to herself if Jeff was all right,
And if the people in the other car were alive.

She awoke in the hospital to faces so sad.
"You've been in a wreck and it looks pretty bad."
These voices echoed inside her head,
As they gently told her that Jeff was dead.

They said "Jenny, we've done all we can do.
But it looks as if we'll lose you too."
"But the people in the other car!?" Jenny cried.
"We're sorry, Jenny, they also died."

Jenny prayed, "God, forgive me for what I've done
I only wanted to have just one night of fun."
"Tell those people's family, I've made their lives dim,
And wish I could return their families to them."

"Tell Mom and Dad I'm sorry I lied,
And that it's my fault so many have died.
Oh, nurse, won't you please tell them that for me?"
The nurse just stood there ~ she never agreed.

But took Jenny's hand with tears in her eyes
And a few moments later Jenny died.
A man asked the nurse, "Why didn't you do your best
To bid that girl her one last request?"
She looked at the man with eyes oh so sad.
"Because the people in the other car were her mom and dad."
This story is sad and unpleasant but true,
So young people take heed, it could have been you.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road your trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit..
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out.
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when your hardest hit,
It's when things go wrong,
That's you musn't quit.

Friend

I don't know what to feel today,
Mind is turning, nothing to say
We've taken our friendship to despair
Beyond the reaches of repair?

It's so sad we came to this
So many things we shall miss.
Never wanting to hurt one another
Shall we end the pain and suffer?

We profoundly said that we'd be friends
From our first days , till our dying ends
The there were the secrets that we shared
Back in the days when we really cared.

I'm lying awake here late at night
Can we ever try to make it right
Does it need to be so intense?
Never does it make any sense.

From here , do we say our good bye?
Ever will we see each others eyes.
Missing will be the hugs and kisses
Leaving you my friend,
My warmest wishes!

THE BRIDGET MALDOON

I wander into the distant past,
Apon a ship and moving fast.
Way up high in the mizzen mast,
Here on the ship the Bridget Maldoon.

I spy a ship she'll be here soon,
Way before the comming moon.
And that my lads will be our doom,
Here on the ship the Bridget Maldoon.

I reach for my sword, with my right,
I'm ready lads should there be a fight.
I'll be keepin her steady in my sight,
Here on the ship the Bridget Maldoon.

I grow weary, the sweat does flow,
The wind has stopped, and will not blow.
We are no longer cutting a row,
Here on the ship the Bridget Maldoon.

I hear my Captian calling to me,
"Come down here lad, let me see!"
I scramble down to Captian Lee,
Here on the ship the Bridget Maldoon.

He looks through the glass, then looks again,
A smile breaks out, then he yells to the men.
"Friend or Foe? (I do not know) They be Friends!"
So goes a day here on the Bridget Maldoon.

"Reflections of a Mother... "

I gave you life, but cannot live it for you.
I can teach you things, but I cannot make you learn.
I can give you directions, but I cannot be there to
lead you.
I can allow you freedom, but I cannot account for it.
I can take you to church, but I cannot make you believe.
I can teach you right from wrong, but I cannot always
decide for you.
I can buy you beautiful clothes, but I cannot make you
beautiful inside.
I can offer you advice, but I cannot accept it for you.
I can give you love, but I cannot force it upon you.
I can teach you to share, but I cannot make you unselfish.
I can teach you respect, but I cannot force you to show
honor.
I can advise you about friends, but cannot choose them
for you.
I can advise you about sex, but I cannot keep you pure.
I can tell you the facts of life, but I can't build your
reputation.
I can tell you about drink, but I can't say "no" for you.
I can warn you about drugs but I can't prevent you from
using them.
I can tell you about lofty goals, but I can't achieve them
for you.
I can teach you about kindness, but I can't force you to
be gracious.
I can warn you about sins, but I cannot make you moral
I can love you as a child, but I cannot place you in G-d's
family.
I can pray for you, but I cannot make you walk with G-d.
I can teach you about Jesus, but I cannot make Jesus
your Lord.
I can tell you how to live, but I cannot give you eternal
life
I can love you with unconditional love all of my life.....
and I will !!!

Always , Mom

Friends Are Like Angels

Our friends are like angels,
Who brighten our days.
In all kinds of wonderful,
Magical ways.

Their thoughtfulness comes,
As a gift from above.
And we feel we're surrounded,
By warm, caring love.

Like upside-down rainbows,
Their smiles bring the sun.
And they fill ho-hum moments,
With laughter and fun.

Friends are like angels,
Without any wings.
Blessing our lives,
With the most precious things.

A WORLD OF DREAMS

Lean against a tree
and dream your world of dreams
Work hard at what you like to do
and try to overcome all obstacles
Laugh at your mistakes
and praise yourself for learning from them
Pick some flowers
and appreciate the beauty of nature
Say hello to strangers
and enjoy the people you know
Don't be afraid to show your emotions
laughing and crying make you feel better
Love your friends and family with your entire being
they are the most important part of your life
Feel the calmness on a quiet sunny day
Find a rainbow and live your world of dreams
always remember life is better than it seems

"The Most Beautiful Flower"

The park bench was deserted as I sat down to read
Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.

And if that weren't enough to ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
And said with great excitement, "Look what I found!"

In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,
With its petals all worn-not enough rain, or too little light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a small smile and then shifted away.

But instead of retreating he sat next to my side
And placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise,
"It sure smells pretty and its beautiful too.
Thats why I picked it; here its for you."

The weed before me was dying or dead.
Not vibrant of colors, orange, yellow, or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need."

But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the very first time
That weed-toting boy could not see; he was blind.

I heard my voice quiver, tears shone like the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
"You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.

I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
A self-pitying woman beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight.

Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see
The problem was not with the world; the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life, and appreciate every second thats mine.

And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose
And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose
And smiled as I watched that young boy, another weed in his hand
About to change the life of an unsuspecting old man.

Excuse this House

Some houses try to hide the fact
that children shelter there.

Ours boasts of it quite openly,
the signs are everywhere.

For smears are on the windows,
little smudges on the door.

I should apologize, I guess,
for toys strewn on the floor.

But I sat down with the children
and we played and laughed and read.

And if the doorbell doesn't shine,
their eyes will shine instead.

For when, at times, I'm forced to choose
the one job or the other;

I want to be a housewife

The Class Ring

Close by the doorway

he paused to stand

as he took the class ring

from her hand

all were watching

but did not speak

as a silent tear

ran down his cheek

and through his mind

the memories went

of all the moments

that they had spent.

Now his eyes had suddenly

grown so cold

for her hand

he'll have never to hold

They watch him in the silent air

As he bent down to whisper

"I Love You" in her ear.

With his ring on his finger

He kissed her goodbye,

Knowing she had worn his class ring

for the last time.

He began to cry.

The door blew open

and the wind began to blow

as they carried her casket

out into the snow.

People like clouds
drift into our lives,
Taking on many forms
they shape our
surroundings,
Sometimes leaving
tears that fall
like rain,
But you my friend
compliment the
sunshine that
brightens my day !!!
