Garon's Revelation

Chapter Four

Garon got dressed and hurried downstairs . He walked into the conference room eating an apple. Don was already there, along with Willy, Dave, Garon's father, even Chuck along with the rest of Garon's so-called entourage.

"So, what's goin' on fellas?" Garon asked upon entering the room. "Well," said Don. "Remember that tour we had to cancel last month? You know....because of the incident?"  Garon just stared innocently. He knew what Don meant.

"Well, it turns out we lost more money on that 'incident' then we had planned. So, I am starting another upcoming tour. You guys have a week to get ready." Was it just his imagination, or did Garon see Don staring at him, as if accusing him of the 'incident' that happened at last tour? The 'Incident', as everyone referred to it, was of course, Garon's little drug problem on the last tour. But no one admited to it as being a drug problem; especially Garon, who convinced himself that he had no problem.

Don finally went over the details of the concert and explained to everyone that this was going to be a great tour and that they would be leaving this upcoming weekend. Mandy, Garon's housekeeper, poked her head into the conference room of downstairs Molly Plantation.

"Mr. Garon? You have a call in the den." she said.  Who is it?"asked Garon. "Can't it wait?"

"Mr. Garon,"said Mandy. "It's your daughter."

"Hello. This is the luckiest man in the world. Who is this?" asked Garon into the reciever of the telephone.

"This is the luckiest little Girl in the worl." a tiny, but happy voice answered back.

"Well, hi there Lucky Girl. Do you wanna know why I am the Luckiest Man in the world?" asked Garon.

"Why?" asked the little Girl at the other end of the telephone.

"Because I have a daughter that I love very much and she loves me too." Garon said with a smile on his face.

"Hey Lucky Man? Do you wanna know why I am the luckiest girl in the world?" asked the little girl.

"Why?" asked Garon.

"Because I have a Daddy that I love very much and he loves me too."

Garon and Gracie Lynn had called  each other on the phone many times before, always starting their conversations exactly like this. Gracie had started it when she was four. That is when Garon and Stella, Garon's ex-wife, seperated, with Stella getting custody of Garon's pride and joy and moving to California. Since then, Garon had always had the same conversation with Grace, always making him smile because of the way it made him laugh and reminding him everytime how much he really did love his daughter.

"Guess what?" asked Gracie. "What, baby?" asked Garon.   "Mom said,"  started Gracie, "that I was coming to visit you at your house. And we can have a lot of fun together! We can watch TV, play games, go horse-back riding, sing your songs, and everything! She said I could go, but only under one condition"

"What's that?" asked Garon. "Mom said," Gracie told her dad. "I can come but you can't spoil me and buy me a lot of stuff."   Garon laughed to himself. Stella hated it when Gracie Lynn would visit her father for a couple of weeks and then come back home with fur coats, diamond rings, expensive dresses, giant stuffed toys and other elaborate gifts. "She deserves to grow up a normal little girl with a normal life," Stella once told Garon. But Garon just loved his only child so much, he couldn't help but bathe her in rich gifts.

"Okay," said Garon. "I'll try not to spoil you so bad this time. But a few little gifts wouln't hurt, would it? asked Garon.  "No, I don't think so." Gracie said. "Just as long as Mom don't know."

"Okay, Gracie. Bye bye now. Love you."

"Love you too, Daddy. See you next weekend."

Then they hung up. Garon, with a smile headed towards the kitchen. Then he realized something. Next weekend? he thought. But we start the tour next weekend...
