Physical Education in Schools
Do you dread teaching PE?  Do you find difficulty in justifying those cold afternoons trying to stop balls from flying through classroom windows?  Or do you stand under the wall bars ready to catch that crazy 5 year old who insists on showing you how he can hang on with one hand?

Then this site is for you!
I am a final year student at Trinity and All Saints College in Leeds, UK with a personal interest in PE. As part of my degree I have studied sport, health and leisure, looking into areas such as children and physical activity, psychology of coaching and exercise, occupational health, nutrition and exercise and health promotion in the community.

As a PE specialist I am keen to promote physical education in schools and justify its importance as part of the National Curriculum.

Although the current emphasis is on numeracy and literacy, our children still need physical activity to take an important role in school life.  Not only does it help children release some of their energy, it teaches them essential skills, such as body control, co-ordination, team work,
committment, enthusiasm, determination, responsibility, as well as links to science, such as, how the body works and health and fitness issues.
Throughout this site I hope to provide an argument for the justification of PE in schools; look at the role of PE curriculum leader; provide ideas for lessons; cross curricular links; health issues; provide links to sport sites, along with links to resource sites.
