Vianney Campos (Eastlake, Class of 2003) PACIFIC OPENS 2004 CAMPAIGN WITH 3-1 DEFEAT OF PROVIDENCE August 28, 2004 BERKELEY, Calif. — The Pacific field hockey team opened its 2004 regular season schedule with a 3-1 non-conference victory over Providence (0-1) on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Maxwell Family Field. Sophomore Vianney Campos (Chula Vista, Calif.) led the Tigers' offensive charge with a pair of goals in the game, while freshman Melody Demel (Fallbrook, Calif.) notched two assists in her first contest as a Tiger. Campos was recognized as the NorPac Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman in 2003. 2003 (Freshman): Vianney made a dramatic impact on a Pacific field hockey team in her first season with the Tigers, leading the team in all three offensive categories with 10 goals, three assists and 23 points. Campos was named the NorPac West Offensive Player of the Year for her efforts. She also earned three NorPac Player of the Week honors, a spot on the NorPac All-Conference First Team and was named to the NFHCA West Region Second Team. Vianney played all 16 games for the Tigers in 2003, including 13 starts. Of her 10 goals, she recorded four game-winning goals, including both goals in the Tigers 2-1 win over SMS on Oct. 9th and the first two goals in Pacific's 4-1 win over Stanford on Nov. 1st to close out the regular season. http://www.pacifictigers.com/WomensSports/FieldHockey/Roster/Campos.htm |
