Teuthoida
Cephalopods are mollusks that have tentacles, such as squids and octopi. In the case of squids, pens are the only fossil remains that are found. Pens are the stiff rods of connective tissue which are formed inside the animal to give it support. These specimens belong to an extinct family of squids. The fossil squids discovered in Southern Manitoba are are some of the largest known, indicating sizes from sixty feet in length.
