I read with interest in your paper about the Detroit Police officer being caught on camera stealing, and that also he is accused of armed robbing a citizen.
There are 3000 members in the Detroit Police Department; all have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. In Macomb County in the past three years, the county concealed weapons board has issued over 15,000 permits. Yet the percentage of Detroit Police officers that have been charged with felonies is 2.3%, while these same Macomb County citizens with gun permits has been .00054%!!
I must ask you anti-gun advocates, including the Free Press Editors: Since the crime rate among Detroit Police is more than 4000 times greater than in the Macomb County citizens, what do you propose that we do to protect ourselves from the seemingly rampant criminal element in the Detroit Police Department??
