Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine impacted life in Medieval Europe in more ways than one. Her impact revolved around the role she played in many fields. Being a woman, she was able to change the way by which a woman was treated and looked upon in this time period, which lasted between 1,000 A.D. - 1,300 A.D. The High Middle Ages were highly for the housewife, however, Eleanor changed this way of mind. As a woman, she changed the role of a wife, a mother, and a queen as seen through the eyes of people during her two royal reigns. She showed a way how a woman could be involved in the politics of the time. During her husbands' reigns she was always involved politically. Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine was nothing but the ordinary. She always stood out as a beauty, intellectual human, and a free thinking woman, which was extremely uncommon during the Middle Ages. Women during this time period would sit home, care for their kin, cook for their men, who would be there fighting, hunting, gathering, and doing everything in their power to support the family. Eleanor was out in the field, she was out fighting, she was respected as a political mind, she was admired by all of her people, and she was a woman out of the ordinary, at least for Medieval Europe. Now a days, her actions seem almost quite common. Still, for the Middle Ages her acts were quite uncommon, thus making her such a significant person in our history. She left an impact on Medieval Europe and the course of history as we know it.
