Over the past 10 years there have been changes in technology throughout the world which have had a major impact on sports.

Some examples of things directly related to these changes include the increase in performances, a reduction in sporting injuries, a rise in new sports and a change to the nature of others.

Coaches need to be up-to-date with new technological advancements to enable them to prepare their athletes for optimal performance.

An example of a technological change is the fastskin suit worn by the Australian swimmers in the 2000 Olympic Games.
