Where Were You
Serenity,
You elusive goal,
I searched you out for so long
in so many dark places
deep inside my mind.
I looked for you in faces
of people I saw around.
I sought your ever presence
in pets that I brought home.
I sought you out in churches,
in temples of eastern faith,
in dingy dim lit bookshops,
just about every place.
Then I took a look
here in my dreary heart -
there I found you hiding from me
all the time.
