Torch of Life

I've been this way before,
different time
and different place,
alone, outside and lonely,
amongst so many friends,
searching for a newness
amongst the same old thing.

Was first as a child
not past the first grade,
my heart was hollowed out
from the core
as with a clade,
and left to dry -
I had to cry.

Next again was still a child,
and to this day afraid
to show my love
or live my life,
a daily dose of no parade
of laughter with no gay,
of running, running away.

O Torch of Life,
Beacon of Love,
Shine Your Hope on me.
Tell me why.
Tell me why.

A quarter century
has passed me by,
I know naught of love,
O Torch of Life
Where is Your Light,
shine my path
this darkened day.

I began to see
in shades of gray,
a dusky dawn
on a new day.
But love can't flower
in a tempest rage.

The storm's been weathered,
all is not lost
adrift and becalmed,
once again
all alone.

Then like the rumble
of thunder through rain
my life is before me -
unimaginable shame.
Have I sinned,
Was I a crime?
Will there ever be normal
again in my life?

Dawning seemed eternal
with new hope,
with a new day.
Dew moistened grass,
song on the wind
I knew I had stumbled
into unlimited bliss.
Forever blue sky,
warming rays
of life giving light.

Petal's sweet song
carries over the breeze,
sing to me softly
and, to the creation
of life, and love
as it can be,
lulling my senses,
bringing me home.

New life was created
at the dawn of this day,
the sun and the full moon
had answered a prayer.

Then cast out to soar
the quietude of space,
floating on aimlessly,
passing place after place,
not wanting to land
here anytime soon,
an unwilling partner
to lifes calling croon.

My time carries on,
day passing to day,
wounds of the journey
not healed from the pain.

O Torch of Life
Beacon of Love,
I see You up ahead.
A distant spot
blue through the haze
of memories caused
in togetherness,
of days not forgot,
and what it is like
to be called Free?!
(a slave to every single thing about me)

Yes Your Light,
You Wonderful Torch,
my life
is what you hold for me,
to fill a need,
a ray of Love,
to show me:
Me.
