Subject: two excellent responses to bush, plus my own observations
dear friends,
i recommend the following two responses to bush's
recent proclamation.
Robert Fisk: What the US President wants us to forget

Detailed Analysis of October 7 Speech by Bush on Iraq

i would add the following observations:
1. the only country in the world that has more oil
than iraq is saudi arabia, and it is even possible
that iraq has more oil than saudi arabia.
2. all this talk of war drives oil prices up, which
drives oil revenues up, which is good for the oil
industry, which is what our government is.
3. bush failed to mention in his speech that iraq
recently offered unconditionally and immediately to
allow weapons inspectors into the country, prior to
which this was bush's sole demand, but after which
bush stalled by demanding a new UN resolution
concerning the inspections. if bush wanted to go to
war, we'd be at war. if bush wanted not to go to war,
he wouldn't be talking about it. obviously he wants
neither - he just wants to keep oil prices up.
4. we bombed northern iraq again today, as we often
do:
