The Marines have Landed The units involved entrucked on airconditioned buses en
route to the Bonifacio Naval Station. Marines, SRG, RCU, SP / Medics and the E. H.
Battalion moved out from DLSU and arrived at BNS.
PMMA usually arrives in airconditioned buses,
but we were informed they would not be coming. We almost beat them last year and were
almost definite of besting them this year. We might have beat them by default, but it was
disappointing because they would have put up a good fight.
So we formed with the other battalions from
Naval Reserve Center II namely PMI, Adamson, PMMS Manila and PMMS Las Pinas. Then the
competition commenced. There was written exams which all were confident we would lead in
this aspect. So it was Drills that would decide our fate.
The other units were good. Their executions
were snappy. Our turn came. Everyone said a prayer till we received our marching orders.
It was a beautiful sight, the white highlights of the gloves looked great with the fatigue
green uniforms moving simultaneously on the parade deck. Every movement was applauded by
the audience. We only committed one error but it was alright. Everyone did their part
and...we won! All our efforts proved to be worth it. But win or lose, it was the
camaraderie developed, the lessons learned and the memories to cherish that matter the
most.
And it ended with a BANG
The next trimester found us training the next
batch for the next mission. The last time we saw each other was in the BNS Firing range
during live firing exercises. The deafening bursts of the fussilades inside the range
seemed to be the revelry that celebrated our success and good fortune for our lives ahead.
The End.
For now. =)
