HISTORY:

During 2000 and 2001, there was an explosive growth of internet discussion forums in Arabic for Egyptians, such as the now extinct Akhbar El Yom Forum, El Montada El Masry, and Al Wafd Party Discussion Forums

It has been an interesting recurring phenomena, where Egyptians go thru the following recurring cycle:

    Complain about our politics, economy, society, our times, ourselves.
    Feel victimized and sorry for ourselves.
    Blame others for our problems, whether the government, Israel, U.S.A., West, ...etc.
    Fall into a group depression, concluding that nothing can be done to improve the reality we live in.

People start to agree that change and reform is needed in various areas. The discussion then slows down, and nothing materialized from it.

However, things starting changing in July 2001, several discussions started such as:

This discussion got a lot of attention, and continued to early August 2001. There were very good input from various Egyptians around the world.

A group of us decided to start the site you are browsing now (Egypt Reform) to get more Egyptians to pariticipate in the reform process, whether inside Egypt or outside.
