West Des Moines Bars, Pubs, And Clubs

Drink

Drink bills itself as the original fun bar. Though not that original, I could see it being fun. Drink opened in spring 2001 and has seen huge crowds since then. The decor is fairly standard wannabee English pub with a lot of wood around. One of the great features of Drink is the 30 beers on tap - excellent for a beer lover, such as myself. My friends and I went on a Friday night and arrived about 8:30pm, when the bar was still saturated with a heavy after-work crowd. We were about the youngest ones in there, but that changed as the night went on and a younger, dressier crowd shoved their way in.

We were fortunate to get a table right in the center of the room, especially as the night got later and even standing space was at a premium. The music was nothing special - standard 80's faves spliced in with your contempo-pop hits. Not much to dance to and the crowd didn't seem to be into that anyway. The staff is friendly and the drinks are average price for DSM ($3.75 for a pint of Heineken). Overall, I say Drink is a cool place to meet your co-workers on Friday night, especially if you want them to think you are trendy, but not the place to settle in for a wild party.
