WolphY's World

The Wolf (wa-hya or wa-ya)
To Native Americans, the wolf is a powerful spiritual symbol. They are considered to be teachers or pathfinders. The wolf star was red, an esteemed color, associated with the wolf by all tribes. Also known as Sirius, it is the brightest star in the Northern Sky. The Milky Way was the wolf's trail-the route to heaven. In time, the wolf also became associated among the four seasons with summer, among the trees with the willow, and among the great natural forces with the clouds.
The indians respected the wolf's prowess as a hunter, his stamina, and the way he moved silently across the landscape. They were moved by his howling, which they sometimes regarded as talking with the spirit world. The wolf appears in many legends as a messenger, great long distance travelor and a guide for anyone seeking the spirit world. He was the forerunner of new ideas who returned to the clan to teach and share medicine.
Wolf is the Grand teacher. Wolf is the sage, who after many winters upon the sacred path and seeking the ways of wisdom, returns to sharenew knowledge with the tribe. Wolf is both the radical and the traditional in the same breath. When the Wolf walks by you - you will remember.
The old ones tell us stories about our beginnings and of a time when human kind first came to live upon this Earth. It was Wolf who taught Humans the ways of living in harmony. It was Wolf who taught us how to form community upon this Earth, for Wolves have an intuitive knowledge of order through chaos and they possess the ability to survive change, intact.
Wolf medicine is very ancient and born of living experience. Wolf will look deep into your heart and share the greatest of knowledge, but will demand full participation, and absolute sincerity. When Wolf has walked by you, the very presence of the wolf will rekindle old memories within your soul.
Through the friction of experience you rekindle the emotional fires of the inner soul and question the manifestations of your own consciousness.
You can own a thing only when you have come to own the emotional experience of it, and realize the responsibility for its creation. then you are free to continue. Wolf medicine can make you whole.
You will return to Wolf many times in your life as you complete and begin your cycles of experience and seek the inner truth.

Two Wolves
The wolf starts out his life
just looking for his mate
he knows that he must find her
it is destined to be his fate
he will know when he finds her
and he will know it from the start
and from the moment that he finds her
only she will be in his heart
he will never again want another
his whole world will be in her eyes
and when she looks in his heart
she will silence all of the faint cries
no longer hunting by the moonlight
never wandering aimlessly in the cold
only knowing a life long love
and forever, together as they grow old
so as they take on all the challenges
conquering each one as it comes
always, together and forever they live
they will always be sharing as one
so when you hear the howling
that is him searching for his mate
and if you hear a returning howl
then you have just witnessed fate
so picture the two wolves sitting
together, as the sky starts to snow
as they watch the falling flakes
each other's love is all they know
it is never for an instance, doubted
all they know is that it is true
although he never has to say it
she hears the words "I LOVE YOU"

CheYenne
My best friend is truly misunderstood
She comes from nature like the earth and wood.
All the misconceptions about her, she must defend
They can't see, she has the gentleness of the wind.

My friend is mischievous; that's not just a rumor
But it's only her way of showing a sense of humor.
She has love and respect for the human race
Which never seems to be returned; what a disgrace.

My friend has a heart full of loyalty and love
Her grace and beauty were gifts from above.
She loves to frolic and run just for fun
Otherwise it's shade she seeks, to be out of the sun.

There are times you may not see her standing there
But, of your presence, you can bet she is aware.
When I look into her eyes, I see age old intelligence
When others see her, in fear they wince.

I love to watch my friend as she runs so free
Because my friend is a beautiful grey wolf, you see.

With Might and Fury
(ode to the wolf)

Might and fury gone round cavernous rage
Send forth no more proud warriors this day
Stand fast your hate. Grieve now your wisdom'd sage
You have err'd taking this freedom away

Look now to the might and fury brought 'bout
War, hate, famine, disease, hunger you've shown
You tell of honor yet I've seen all-out
Your greed, deceit...your deeds will not atone

...Rage now! - Torment! - Hear me this moonlit night
...Hear me in the ululate wind. I have come
...Gather your soul fast, clutch it near this site
...My howl will not fade away but become

...Your day passes to distant beating drum
...Your night passes us our vigilant prowl
...Gone are the ways of your past, here succumb
...Hear me in the wind. Hear my lonely howl

When somber darkness meets might and fury
Then know your mighty day has met dispute
Know that all achievement won, meets jury
All deeds and might gone by, end in refute

Know then fury's howl, conscience then invade
Weigh then 'mong'st these things our fury, your might
For throughout the ages you've wrong portrayed
The Brotherhood of wolves there in the night
