Have U thought
about this!?
We
thought deeply about Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Sympathetic
Joy and Equanimity. It always begins with Heart.
Extending love: The government
of Uganda should urge its citizens to
cater for their children in all aspects of life. They should
put aside some time for sharing with their children- these
interactions include telling stories, helping children in
their homework, sharing personal experiences and counseling.
This should be done at least every day after work. Once the
child interacts with his parents, he will feel that he is
loved and catered for. This prevents them from going to the
streets since they receive ample love and care from the
parents.
Fleeing the children off the
roads: The government should enforce
operations through the police force or the Kampala City
Council (K.C.C) aimed at fleeing the street kids off the
roads. These children have turned out to be a menace in the
city for they pick pocket passersby plus dirtying the streets.
The government should therefore put in efforts so as to flee
them.
Encouraging the citizens to adopt
these children: The government
should encourage or even ask its citizens to adopt these
children for they at times come to the streets because they do
not have homes. So if some parents start to adopt these
children thus incorporating them into their families, their
numbers shall reduce and later all of them will be adopted and
the streets shall remain empty in the future. Adoption is
effective because the children will grow up in families where
they are paramount catered for.
Imprisoning/ fining parents:
The government should promulgate strict laws/ fines against
the parents who mistreat the children causing them indirectly
to go to the streets so as they could escape the fury of their
parents.
Adoption centers: The
government should put in place adoption centers which cater
for the orphans and street children. An example here in
Kampala is the Friends Of Children's Association (F.O.C.A) -
this organization adopts street children and orphans in
Kampala District. It provides them with services like
education, health, sports & food. |
