.   ..This is the beginning historical genealogical documentation initiated by Ed Goodhue, cousin to this Branch through  a common ancestral Tree stemming from Pierre Godu ( Pronounced as GOT ZOO) from Poitiers, Poitou, France, around the beginning of the 15th Century, when his son, Yves-Hugues Godu, a soldier in the Kings Army, migrated to North America and the Canadian Province of Quebec. As a large number of this branch are still living in French speaking Canada , a lot of the information gathered by various compilers is in French. As this writer speaks only enough French to get into trouble, a translator program from the Web, and a couple of members of the living family, have assisted him in his endeavors. Particularly, the insurmountable research and compiling done on the whole Tree by Glendon Peter Goodhue, St. Jeromes, Province of Quebec, Canada;  Francis Jean BerchmansGoddu (Family # 8 a 1 a 1 a 4) for his quick response when Ed first started getting serious about charting this Branch; many, many heartfelt thanks to Marguerite Marie Goddu Knapik, for her continual inputs and her herculean task of keeping the whole Family Tree connected with her informative Newsletters- even while going through some personal tribulations; Jeanette Marie Goddu Newell Wheeler (Family # 8 a 1 a 1 a 3) and  Bernadette Marie GodduBeaupre Mohan (Family # 8 a 1 a 1 a 6) for their quick  inputs, as well as many other family members from the Jean Berchmans and  Irene Marie Marguerite Quenneville Goddu Branch (Family # 8 a 1 a 1 a)  AND Denise  Marie Fournier, who Ed met on the internet and  became good friends as well as distant cousins. Will keep expanding on this page as new found info is ferretted out from records and/or living family members.
