The Historic Edgewater...began as boathouse with a shop on the second floor. Brothers Eddy and Percy Laplante specialized in hull repairs, and even built a few wooden boats. In 1928 the Laplantes decided to build a soda bar/restaurant on the same site. Just a few years later, a dance hall was added - the biggest and most popular in the area.Durng the good years between the Great Depression and the start of WW II,charted busloads of area revelers would swell the Edgewater Inn on Saturday nights. Even today visitors will talk about the good old days at "the EDGE" filled with first dates, weddings, big bands, and foot stomping country music. No doubt Percy and Eddy would be proud of the legacy the left us and the evelution of what they started.

The Edgewater Inn is now one of the oldest buildings of its kind in South Eastern Ontario and is actually restling on a water lot, thus name "EDGEWATER" The present dining room of the west side of the building was built during the 1950's by then owner Mr. Rowe. The Edgewater Inn is now owned by your host,Mary MacDonell and Pierre Boucher. May your stay with us be a pleasent and memorable one.
