The most frequent name for American presidents is James. Six of forty-three commander-in-chiefs have been named James. Next most common are John and William with four each. Three of our presidents have been named George, making it the fourth most popular presidential name. The rest are a wide variety of the common (Zachary Taylor, Harry Truman) and the unusual (Rutherford B. Hayes, Lyndon Johnson, Millard Fillmore).
