History:
As another form of Christiana, Christina, appeared a little after the year 1200 (one of the first noted was Christina Atheling, a granddaughter of Edmund II Ironside, born about 1050). It can also be found in Greece and southern Italy at this time.

By the 16th century, Christina could be found in Italy, Spain, and Portugal as Cristina, although it was not popular.

In the United States, Cristina took root in the 20th century as a Spanish, Italian or phonetic version of the popular name Christina.
