EDF Mogami Class Cruiser

Captain Avatar's Flagship after the Battle of Pluto.

Mogami class cruiser under fire at Pluto

The Mogami class cruiser was one of the first ships commissioned into the EDF fleet. This ship fought with distinction in the first years if the Earth Gamilon war even though it faced technologically and numerically superior Gamilon fleet. The Mogami Class cruiser's design is obviously influenced by captured Gamilon designs. For it's time this ship was the most powerful EDF ship, however with the introduction of Wave Motion technology this ship and the Lightning class torpedo destroyer were rendered obsolete. There is only one surviving member of this class.

EDF Konigsberg class Patrol Cruiser

A Konigsberg Class Cruiser circa. Comet Empire War.

The Konigsberg class was designed from the outset as a multi-role ship. Its primary role was to serve as long range scout and patrol ship. The Konigsberg was such a flexible design that it could also serve as a fleet escort for larger capital ships. The Konigsberg class served in the EDF fleet for a long duration, even after it was no longer a front line ship.

EDF Hood class Battlecruiser

Hood Targeting a distant Comet Warship

The Hood Class was the most powerful non-battleship in the EDF fleet during the Comet Empire war. The Hood class could served as a escort for larger capital ships or operate in independent squadrons. The designers packed in as many weapons as possible on the smaller Battlecruiser hull. The resulting ship was powerful in weaponry but lacked the heavy armor of the larger battleships. The Hood class shares many similar components of the smaller Konigsberg class cruiser. This ship class was still in service during the Bolar wars and served with distinction in that conflict.

Experimental Battlecruiser

Little is known about this ship. It's existence is purely conjectural at this point. If this class was constructed it is more then likely that only a few were built. It wave motion gun mount is similar to the Prince Of Wales and she carries several heavy shock cannons.

Unmanned Battlecruiser

[No picture available]

Not surprisingly this class is similar to the Unmanned Battleship. The Battlecruiser is slightly smaller with only one Wave motion gun mounted externally. The poor combat record of this ship was due, in part, to the surprise attack of the Dark Nebula forces. Like all unmanned series of ships they were intended to be commanded from a remote location by normal EDF command crews. The destruction of such command centers would render the unmanned ships useless and proved to be one of the major flaws of the unmanned concept.

EDF Prince Of Wales

[No picture available]

The Prince of Wales was launched during the Bolar Wars. Little hard data exists on this ship. In size she could almost be considered a "pocket Battleship" The Prince of Wales is a Closed engine design much like the larger Bismark. She carries a wave motion gun under a long protruding bow. She has 4 twin barreled shock cannon turrets. Several design elements from both this ship and the Bismark are incorporated into the "New-type" series of ships.

EDF New Heavy Cruiser

EDF Fleet leaving Earth

EDF New Heavy Cruiser under attack at port.

The EDF New Heavy Cruiser was built to replace both the aging Hood and Konigsberg class ships. This class, as all of the "New" type ships, are heavy descended from the Argo design. The Ship has heavy firepower with multiple torpedo and missile launchers. Her main punch is a Heavy Wave Motion Gun and two 3 barreled Shock Cannon Turrets. This class suffered heavy losses to the Hyper-radiation missile equipped forces of the Denguil Empire.
