"There were certain stories I felt I couldn't do in The X-Files which had to do with psychological terror, the real world with real criminals and truly human monsters. And this is my way of approaching it. Frank Black is a hero I wanted to create. If he embodies anything for me, it is the appropriate response to the world we live in, to the newspaper headlines that we read every day." -- Chris Carter

Millennium ran for three seasons, from 1996 to 1999 (at least in America). Unlike The X-Files, the first season was immediately thrust into the spotlight, with expectations high and publicity likewise. Carter was a media darling thanks to the adventures of Mulder and Scully, and it was hoped he could launch a second weekly terrorfest that would capture the attention of viewers everywhere. Starring Lance Henriksen, the grizzled-in-appearance big screen veteran, Millennium was intended to be more than another of The X-Files clones floating around the networks, or another Silence Of The Lambs/Seven wannabe.

Did Carter and co succeed? This has been debated by many, and unlike The X-Files, has not found it's place in television history or pop culture. But there's a very loyal fanbase (some of whom have put together incredible websites) and the show is finding more support even several years after going off air. The rumors of a full DVD release next year will likely gain even more (deserved) attention for this sometimes frustrating yet always fascinating series.

Note: I complied the interview comments through an array of different sources, including Fangoria, The 11th Hour.com, TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly, Cinefantastique and others. Some photos were scanned by me, but most were taken from other (and fucking better) websites, most notably the superb Millennium Abyss. Kudos to all!

All Millennium fans should jump over to the fantastic THIS IS WHO WE ARE forum. Well, after looking at my site, of course...
